fuck, mr beatnik is an old friend, i knew him when he was living out in Geneva, we have had some fun times together
Greg Wilson is the utter don, one of the nicest men in the music industry, never has a bad word to say about anyone, and is so surprised and overjoyed at the resurgence in his career. I have acted as his roadie on many an occasion, carrying that fucking reel to reel player up and down stairs all over London as a way to get into clubs for free. There is no one else I have seen booked to play at such a diverse range of clubs (from electro house to soul to utter cheese fests) who can stick to his guns, playing the music he is passionate about and sending the crowd mental. I have seen him fill empty dancefloors in 2 records when he has started playing.

Its all about the mixtapes. Who buys albums anymore?
Metalheads like me. I've never bought a dance/beats album, always mixtapes (unless you count Prodigy)

Fair enough, metal is a bit outside my sphere of knowledge.
Also - DJ Prestige can do no wrong for soul and funk mixes.

'Mother' (the hour-long version) by Goldie.
Not so much a mix but a great blend of themes from some of his best tracks.

Optimo are good for usual mixes too. Their Sleepwalk compilation is excellent and their podcasts (and indeed Essential Mix) always have some surprises.

The Slutty Fringe was a good mixe series too - Radioolio did a nice 50's Rock and Roll mix for it.

another one that was a great deal of fun was the Avalanches promo mix from years agohttp://www.theavalanches.com/mixes.php - you have to sign up for the mailing list, but don't be worried about spam, i don't think i've received one email in years....

Here's an amazing mix that Mick Boogie did recently to commemorate the Beastie Boys induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It took on a different kind of significance a week later when MCA died. Not sure if this is up your street but it is probably the best Beastie Boys 'album' you will ever hear made by a long time friend and collaborator. I would highly recommend it.
