My American Classic Aeros come in at WEIGHT Front 745 gr Rear 840 gr Pair 1585 gr
Just a quick search from my planned wheelbuild brought up a BHS hub/A23/ACI build coming in at an estimated 1489.9g
So switch the A23 for a Stan alpha 340 and some lighter spokes, alu nips and I reckon you can do much better.
Custom aside, I still think a modified front mtb hub will give you the best weight £/g.
$50 and 132.5 grams. (obvs need to add the weight of an axle, cog, and ti cog bolts (but surly they must be cheaper than a steel lock ring(?)).
