• Just got back from reccying the route I planned. I think it would be best to drop the penultimate and pen-penultimate waypoints (the Fulham Palace memorial to the International Bridages, and the William Morris society). It took ages to get from Portobello Road to Fulham Palace Gardens, they don't allow bikes there and I was unable to find the memorial in any case. It's possible to ride the North bank Thamespath from Fulham Palace to the William Morris society, despite some occasionally contradictory signage about bikes, but size of the path is quite variable and it took ages to get between the two. Instead I'd cut out the western element of the ride and instead strike out North to Highgate cemetery and Marx's grave from Portobello Road.

Altogether I have had a fun day, and my A-Z is now covered in notes and squiggles in pink highlighter pen... Low point came when I realised that I had left my keys and wallet at home, my phone battery died and I needed a wee but couldn't lock up anywhere. Look Mum sorted me out though.

On the way home I went into the Bike Kitchen and was introduced to Jenny, who told me about the Pedalpalooza festival, June 3rd to June 10th. People are organising and submitting themed rides throughout the period, and she suggested that we could too. I think I'm away doing wedding preparations the week it's on, but it's an idea...
