    Brilliant kev.

Talked to RBKC today. Looks like we will be able to keep the Westway sessions going - RBKC is keen, they just need to chat with Westway about availability. They're going to get back to me within the next couple of days.

Beginners invitational tournament - yes, probably just those playing 12 months or less - provisionally happening the week or second week after HB/LO, RBKC rep said that many councils are trying not to organise stuff until after the Olympics are done.

Likely to be limited to about a dozen teams because there is only one court available.

  • I should be in for Wednesday...

  • i would be but ill be on skype hammering out a constitution for the UKHBPA with other unfortunates. Would much rather play polo :P

  • seriously?

  • i'm gonna head south on wednesday in prep for cambridge.
how many weeks of the oringinal 10 or left?

  • 23rd May will be the last session of the original 10. A good number of attendees (both tomorrow and next Wed) would be wicked so we can show that it is growing in popularity. After that...fingers crossed.

Just a suggestion, but how would you feel about hgs vs Yomoyo at westway? Practice tomorrow?

  • I won't be able to make it Louis but another time this week for sure

  • I could sub for punkture.

  • Ill be down today around 7.30

  • Don't have a bike though, are the spares still there?

  • afaik there are loaners available.

  • Kev

please email me about getting this tournament going, and continuing the court booking through the summer. i can't private message you as newly signed up to forum, and emails bouncing back, cheers.

  • Neil, I sent an email to your RBKC address.

  • We built the spare polo bikes for Wed. at Westway. How are they working out?

  • Yes they've been brilliant. Lots of people have been turning up on hybrids or fixies with road gearing; they've been able to play on them when necessary, but having the specifically built polo bikes for loan has vastly, vastly improved their experience of playing the game, and makes them want to come back again.

So thank you very much for putting them together! They have made a real difference. Nice low gearing, and double brake levers too. Very impressive!

  • RBKC look like they are good to go for keeping the sessions going until mid September when the tournament would happen. Hasnt been finalised yet with Westway but RBKC have given it the green light.

Would there be any major objections to moving this to a Tuesday evening over the summer? This would give people like Sarah & Teleri (grass polo players) more of a chance to come along, as their regular sessions are on Wednesdays, and also avoid a clash with Wednesday Souths, so Westies like Louis, Felix, etc have an option to play. Feedback welcome ASAP - RBKC need to confirm. Thanks

  • I got an email today from the Westway's own PR people, who are looking to start promoting the sport in and around the centre. Hopefully it brings even more people in!

    Can we build on this?

Also, how available is the court? Possibility of a weekend booking as well?

  • Neil said the court isnt used much during the week - not sure about weekends though

  • Moving it off a Wednesday is probably a decent idea. I'll be there regularly as soon as I can ride again.

  • I'm as good with a Tuesday as a weds....and if Peckham beginners is off for a while?

Either way, will be down weds to the Westway.

  • Peckham hasnt happened for a few weeks now.

Come west poots. Best court in London, no pillars or piss or oil, toilets and snacks nearby, two loaners, always six people playing. You can bring your bike on the train home afterwards.

Are you finished your own bike?

  • I can't do Tuesdays and also think it shouldn't be on the same day as another beginners night.

But not vetoing or anything, just giving my opinion.

  • Its the diagonally opposite end of the city - a good few people cant commit to Peckham because of the distance involved. If we're going to grow it then there will always be some clashes.

  • So who's playing bike polo in West London tomorrow?
