  • That should say find it -damned autocorrect

  • Oh, and southfields (merton road I think)

  • Sorry to hear that, CYOA. Yes, one of the main kinds of theft around at the moment is from shared areas inside buildings with multiple flats, often very recent developments. Residents feel safe in there, but theft is actually pretty easy. Most of the parking areas in such places are badly designed and, more importantly, badly managed, e.g. no-one's in charge of keeping track of keys.

If you move into a building like that, it's actually usually a good idea to start a mini-campaign if provision is sadly lacking in the above departments.

  • I saw someone riding past today on a £2,000 Fuji road bike who most definitely didn't own that bike originally. :(

    I think it was this:

I'm not very good at identifying bike models, though, so perhaps it was something similar.

  • Gutted! Don't think there are many of these around so hopefully might get spotted. Hope the prick that took it falls off and breaks his face.

  • I spotted a guy on Wood Lane (White City) who was clearly not the rightful owner trying to sell a v nice cannondale road bike. It was black with white detailing. Not sure if full carbon or alu frame and carbon fork. Horizontal top tube. About size 55 ish. Had slightly robust looking tyres on (Marathons or something) which looked a bit unusual. He was trying to sell it to another guy, who wanted to take it for a spin without paying, which was causing something of a disagreement.

  • Pink On-One 456 stolen outside my house this morning, near Ruskin Park, Camberwell/Loughborough Junction area.

    Here's the spec:

    On-One 456 16" frame and forks, pink
SRAM x-9 front and rear mech
    SRAM x-9 shifters
    AVID Juicy Ultimate brakes
    FSA wheels
Thomson 80 mm stem and layback seatpost, black
    Unbranded carbon bars
    ODI grips
Race Face cranks with 2 rings
    Look MTB pedals, white
    Road tyres
Small King Ken sticker on fork
Front mech has home-made shim on it

  • At least it's fairly unique, should be fairly easy for someone to recognise.

  • My mate's just recovered his Bob Jackson which was stolen from outside the Haggerston a few months back.

The guy who had it claims he bought it out the back of Brick Lane Bikes store, and he seems pretty genuine too.

Anyone have a previous experience of Brick Lane Bikes selling bikes out the back and not giving out receipts?

  • when you say

out the back of Brick Lane Bikes store

do you mean from their yard?

A few people on here work there, you could ask them

  • Just raced after a white male 25-35in flatcap with black cycle helmet and dark grey backpack on grey hybrid who stole rear wheel from nice trispoked bike opposite Favela Chic and he also had 2nd stolen wheel on his bar. He went into Fellows Court Estate where he met a friend to offload the wheels - i didn't fancy taking it any further - sorry i didnt get your wheel back. Found a police car - they werent interested.

Flat cap, backpack, black cycle helmet, grey jacket & trousers, short cropped black hair, white male, grey hybrid bike if you want to report it.

  • ...Another Brompton - this guy has sold loads...

heard about instances like this before..

  • Posted on behalf of its owner who's not on here, but was advised by Titus Halliwell of task force fame to get a notice up here:

    Stolen: Condor Fratello
    Old Street, London.
Sometime between 13:00 and 15:30 yesterday (Tuesday 24 Jan).
Dark grey with new red bar tape. Shimano 105. Rack. Raceblades. Smallish size - the owner is 5'5".

Any news please get in touch with me - I can get messages through to the owner.

So, I had given up on this, as it was so long ago.
And as things pass, the in-sewer-ants have coughed and Alaina has, for a while now, been riding a shiny replacement bike.
For reasons still not really clear to me, out of the blue, on the morning of April 13th I went to www.bikeshd.co.uk, typed in the word 'Fratello' and the first thing which it threw up was a link to the e-bay sale of Alaina's bike!
I put in a call to Sgt.Titus Halliwell from the Cycle Task Force, took instruction in what to do next, and duly did as I was told. (There's a first)

To cut a long story short, yesterday morning Alaina collected her recovered Fratello from the police, in Southwark, where she lives
The Frat had been on holiday in Greece in the interim, and the police had gone to the trouble of recovering the bike from somewhere in Oxfordshire and returning it to London.
    The point of this post?
Just to say a massive big up to all those at the Cycle Task Force who made this happen.
Peeps, if you are unfortunate enough to have your bike nicked – be aware that there are folk out there who are doing their damnedest to get it back to you.

Folk who are modest enough to say “It’s what I’m paid to do”.
    Chapeau!

Oh, and I’m told registering on Immobilise deserves a mention.

  • Great news, Jurek :)

  • Isn't he the motherfucker that sells all the stolen Brooks? You'd think he'd be more discrete, but naming his auctions with the same 'ITS A _________ IN _____ CONDITION' makes it a little bit obvious.... bastard.

    Wonderful news! Will email Alaina!

  • Stolen from a mate in Oxford city centre around 4pm on Saturday 19th May. Surly Pugsley fat bike, very distinctive, I doubt there's another one like this around Oxford. If anyone sees it being ridden around, locked up, advertised for sale etc please contact me or the guys at Cycle Centre in Walton St, Jericho. Cheers.

    Matt.
