This is actually a very good idea.You'd still need a way of allowing mixer teams to compete (individual ability tracked) as mixer/new teams would have a long qualification period ahead of them.
For example: some of the teams that will be at this year's Euros Qualifier would have no results to date (I think expecting teams like Wooden Skulls to go through some sort of qualification process doesn't improve/promote polo)?
Yeah, I think with the fluid nature of polo it would have to be player based rather than teams.
It's what PK and Max did for the league, and worked pretty well, with the obvious exception of Wooden Skulls, but they had hardly played any tournaments, even as individuals.
For example Rat Trap (name TBC), all three of us would have plenty of ranking points over the last year, but none of us have ever played together.
I think the really tricky bit would be to decide a fair ranking system for tournaments, what's worth the most points, how quickly do points degrade, how much do they degrade by, do all tournaments count (only opens, or limited ones such as the London League, or even invitationals)
