  • This'll be really nice. But those wheels...

  • Cheers guys. I'm just deciding on some new hubs/rims at the moment. Might keep the teak velocity but lace them to a classic silver hub/silver spokes. Even considering some real wooden rims from ghisalo. But a bit concerned about performance. (not that I'm going to be racing it or anything though)

Frame has a rear brake drilled so decided to go with 2 brakes-just received some campag deltas this morning so I'm pretty excited how it's coming along!

  • Mate, with so much silver going on, I'm sure some nice silver rims would go in there a treat... Also have you thought about the Brooks slender grips instead of straight tape?

  • I really like that build, but just have a thing about wood in general really. Always loved wood wheels and now I think I have a frame that might do a set justice - plus ghisallo rims are Italian, perfect for this steed! Thought about the grips but for the priests but I want the tape to head just round the curve a bit.

  • Look what came in the post today ++ some other trinkets :-)

  • I can't wait to see it finished now. Believe it or not, I was pondering the CK pewter headset when I built mine.

  • Serious porn components here.

Can we see a pic of it built up with those wheels nonetheless, just to check out how it'll look (who knows might look lovely!)

Is that a biritsh thread campag taper BB?

  • Excited about finishing it. My last exam is on 14th June so I'm aiming for that as a completion date. Will deffo build it up with the profiles, but pretty sure they'll be going.
Love the pewter headset, the purple grey shade looks good imho.
My wheel plans have changed loads-from profiles etc to sheriff stars, but realised they weren't too suitable for road use. Ended up emailing Mack with a picture of the sheriffs and he said he could replicate the design..but now I've seen these deltas, I'm leaning towards LF c rec pistas to keep the wheels true to the whole build. Would have loved to see how Mack can craft sheriff stars though, maybe an idea for someone elses build though........

    Yeah bb is English, Jordan

I'll keep it updated with pics, cheers for interest and comments.

  • Sweet wheels bro.

  • Here u go Jordan, a quick build with the profile/velocitys....
I am reaaaly loving the delta brakes!
You get the general idea...am really liking the idea of low flange campag hubs.

  • Those wheels.... I'm sorry but they're awful.
Rest of the bike is nice though.
And those hubs are the absolute cats knackers!

  • Those green hubs make me wanna cry.

  • They are pretty loud. I'll be selling them soonish to fund new hubs/wheels. If anybody is interested drop me a line. They are awesome hubs, on the right build=winning!

  • Don't listen to these people meds, build the bike as you envision it, fuck the haters!

  • You know what? I like how the rims match the brooks!
It's looking pretty good to me!
The hubs don't clash as much as I thought it would (matches the little dragon on the headtube haha!)

And as malaysian says go for what you feel (within reason) :p

  • Real tasteful looking bike,

  • Those wheels ...

  • I also have to say I don't mind the rims quite as much as I thought I would. Depends on the tires I guess also. But those hubs...

  • Boys..Jordan, Malaysian, Bbhewee..you're catching the vision for the rims! Wood is the way I'm going!
The profile hubs do slightly tie in with the cinelli decals, but not nearly enough really.
I'm just loving campag craftsmanship - the c recs w/wooden crafted rims will be lovely!

  • The rims are dreadful. But it could work. You're in troubled waters here.

  • will you be having artificial walnut inlays in your dashboard?

  • It's funny you mention walnut, because I'm currently shopping for real wooden rims, and the walnut shade I think could look quite nice (think it's the one in the middle)
I think the middle three are particularly nice.

  • Nice to see it pieced together a bit J, there's a bloody strong build in the making there and the deltas look great. Its "going" to be a damn classy bike.
The profile Wheelset do nothing (for me) other than to give an idea of the frames geo ;) but the low flange C-record pista's will sort it right out, and those solid wood rims could well be a nice personal touch....with some Veloflex tubs, yummmmm!

    Any thoughts on brake levers?

  • Cheers mate - hope you like the popes on it! Veloflex are lovely, but thinking I'll probably go for skinny plain black tubs, as matching brown/gumwall sides with the shade of wood might be tricky. Perhaps gatorskin tubs, as the brown sides are very subtle and might melt into the wood nicely.

I really want the bars as clean as possible, so I'm planning on controlling the deltas with my mind, or maybe by remote control! But seriously, I'm not sure yet...maybe paul levers or drop levers turned sideways. Any ideas?

  • How about some bar end levers? Keep it slick.
