Best cyclocross bike under £1000 and other CX chat

Occasionally I would look to carry a weeks shopping from the supermarket, but for a short distance. The usual load is likely to be lunch, spare clothes, tools (fairly comprehensive selection) and spare parts. I may also consider some light touring.

How well would cx or road tyres fit to the 29er rims?

A 35mm tyre would fit a 24mm wide XC rim brilliantly I imagine.
Marathon racers, or supremes would be great.

Sounds like the Hope Hoops will be fine.
