Have to say that was one of the most intense footballing nights of my life.
Watching TS live and die with every kick, foul, hit post, missed chance and late winners, is something not easily forgotten.
It had to be Torres to score the winner. If JT fouls sanchez with the ball anywhere near them its only a yellow. Still not sure that Barca goal was offside. Messi missing a penalty, for fuckssake.
Not quite sure what team Chelsea will line up for the final, and I lost count of which players would be missing for it, but a lot of players who have come up big in the last couple of weeks won't be available, i'd hate to try and beat Real or Bayern with Malouda and Kalou up front, and Bosingwa and Luiz at the back. It probably won't be pretty.
But fair do's to Chelsea, they held on, Ramires got an amazing goal, and then they defending like demons. Not sure why they were even trying to break out of defense as, as soon as they lost the ball, barca had more space to go to work..
After seeing them lose to Madrid on Saturday I mentioned Barca's lack of a striker to get on the shoulder of the last man, but what was evident was that sometimes someone needs to have a go from the edge of the box, too often xavi or iniesta or fabregas or alves or messi, would collect a pass with a bit of space and then would shuffle it over, looking for the killer ball into the penalty area and a higher percentage chance on goal, only for the ball to be blocked, the chance to be scuffed or the player turned away and the attack started again... Some long range efforts with such clean strikers of the ball would have been better than no attempt on goal at all...
Barca have a lot of thinking and reassessing to do. I'm hoping Guardiola makes another run at it, and figures out a way of making barca even more potent.
Congratulations to chelsea, but as they say be careful what you wish for, either Mourinho and a ruthlessly efficient counter attacking Real or Bayern at their home arena. Either will be tasty...
