Anyone got some saddle advice? I've been running my Brooks B17 Narrow for almost a year, but it just isn't comfortable anymore...
What sort of saddle? i'm thinking of splashing out on a Brooks swift soon

The Bottecchia looks lovely

Turbo or Rolls, Blakey can now vouch for Rolls, only saddles I ride

Get some panaracer Pasela's, best tyres ever.

Personally i prefer my rolls saddle over a Turbo or Concor

I think I'm going to invest in a Rolls. My ass can't take any more.

How is your B17N bad? Too hard? Sagging? Are you ok with narrow saddles other than this?
-
• #410
I use a B17N. I find it OK, but any distance I do on it I use padded shorts generally. It's slowly relinquishing and changing shape though.
I have to admit, riding my Pompino with the B17N after I've been riding my Mottram with a Supercorsa feels like I'm riding on a large sofa. The Supercorsa is comfy, but the two are totally different.

The B17N is the hardest Brooks but they can sag over time, then a bit of tightening with the tension nut is needed, only a bit, just enough to take out the sag.

...and some people are not good with narrow saddles, so a b17 standard may be perfect for them.

I think the Colt is harder. But yeah, it's pretty stiff. Mine is starting to sag a little, but mostly it's the sit bones area that's shaping.
-
• #414
Yes, I forgot about the re-released Colt, that's also tough.
I should have said: when it sags too much, beyond a shaped fit. -
• #415
Expensive saddle that is only comfy for a while, maybe i wont get a Brooks swift.

• #416
They last for years if you treat them correctly. I can only go on what I've read/been told, as I've only had mine for about a year. They have an adjustment bolt to re-tension them when they start getting a little too saggy.

i didnt get on with my white rolls much, id say concor

Regal has a good rep for being comfortable. It comes down to the width of your sit bones so worth trying a few before you buy.
The only thing we can conclude here based on the above evidence is that if you have womanly hips then a Rolls might be for you.
The B17 pre-aged is super comfy too. I will part with the cash for one some day.

Maybe i'll just ride through the pain and hope it finally wears in.

Don't forget to proofide it, etc...
-
• #421
Dubbin will do. There is no miracle treatment for leather.
-
• #422
I thought proofide was just to keep it looking nice?
-
• #423
Keeps the leather from drying out and absorbing water.

Yes its pink, your eyes aren't deceiving you! -
