I've read both and personally I think the other is more representative of an internet-promoted fixed gear race :)

- That said, if a promoter is prepared to accept the 5th Floor as one of their sponsors, and the logo on the promotional flyer suggest they are, then maybe they should think twice about this, as the aforementioned cretins have a track record of infantile, internet hardmen behaviour.
I don't really want to stir this whole 5th Floor thing (believe in 2nd chances), but I'm not sure I understood the idea of "sponsoring" at this occassion.
Do you mean a group of people fronts the event and then takes part in it as competitors? Doesn't it sound bit crooked? - That said, if a promoter is prepared to accept the 5th Floor as one of their sponsors, and the logo on the promotional flyer suggest they are, then maybe they should think twice about this, as the aforementioned cretins have a track record of infantile, internet hardmen behaviour.

This whole thread is messed, now to get back to serious business, is anybody going down to Hillingdon to test the course?
I'm gonna go have another session over there this weekend if it's not too wet and I'm not too hungover from something. You in?
I might take a train from Paddington as it felt like a rrreeeaaallllyyyy long way from my flat in N19 last time on 46x14 with a big messenger bag full of locks, tools and whatever other rubbish hides in there.

About 17 miles, an hour and 20 minutes riding I reckon, longer if brakeless.

• #209
Ed, he just wrote that he rode it already, pretty sure he know how long it takes...

MrSmyth would love you if he was still on here.

Come on Oliver, that sort of distance calls for at least two stops for angst ridden espresso consumption.

Your a bold cunt on the internet mate, you've served me beers twice in the last week Henry (neither cold enough) and you didnt say a word while looking me straight in the eye. Convenient you can't sign up and race. You've lost the bigger game anyway if you can't be man enough to speak your thoughts face to face. You better go and email Leader about this eh?
sumo wants to challenge you to a game of bike
On another note, a few of us are planning on making a remake of 'Fast and the furious: tokyo drift'
Would you guys like to be the baddies? -

Funny haha

Sure let me know what you're doing, I'm cool with taking the train as well, brakeless 46x14 ain't fun.

I've heard Addison Lee is the place to go if you want to swiftly move around London.

If you are planning to ride for 40 mins at 25+ mph I highly recommend a hefty warm up.
I can get from Lewisham to Hilingdon in 85 mins -

This is going to sound snide, and it's not really meant to be, but: how many of the posters in this thread can maintain 25 mph for 40 minutes?

It's quite easy in a car or on a motorbike.

Looking back through some of my data, and 25mph looks to be ~350 watts (on my turbo).
For me that's anaerobic, I don't believe I could do that for 45 minutes, not at the moment anyway.
-
• #222
25mph sitting in a bunch wouldn't be that wattage i imagine

http://app.strava.com/rides/7116211With a crit you spend alot of energy accelerating out of corners that you have either freewheeled or soft-pedalled through so although average for me was pretty much bang on threshold for an hour, I spent 20 mins @ >150% + 20 mins at 50% or less + 20 mins at or about threshold.
Crit training is doing lots of very short hard efforts of 10-20 seconds with equal recovery in between to mimic the very spiky efforts of the race. I've done them round Regents Park and your average speed can end up faster than doing steady constant laps.
As usual, the way is led in ... errrr ... Shacklewell.
