    Old DA.

Rear mech cost me about the same as a new Tiagra would have.

I expected the very poorly 'murdered out' DA cranks might offend some though.

  • Just to let you know, the tail end 2011 stock is now down to £99 in some sizes and colours. Just picked myself up a gorgeous baby blue* XL frame, no forks though. This is my summer 2013 build. Slaps self on wrist

*Yeah, I'm attempting an "I fit in here" gag. What of it?

  • My pomp

  • Looks great

  • Just taken delivery of my £99 frame today. I have to say that it was one of the best online delivery processes I've ever been through. You get an email and a text to confirm order, confirm dispatch, confirm the day and confirm the actual time of delivery (to within one hour) including the driver's name (Theo).

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my frame has the rear canti hanger and that they've done away with the heinous URL on the toptube. There's also a kickass headbadge in the form of a white Yorkshire rose which I might have to colour red with red nail varnish.

  • Not the best photo, but here's my commuter pomp.

  • My pomp

Absolutely lovely. Perfect town bike, I'm jealous.

  • I have to concur. A superb build.

  • wow, way nicer than mine!!

  • I am still undecided on what my winter commuter will be. I now have a Plug frame, but I have to say I'd rather get a Pompino. The thing is that the frame MUST have enough clearance for 35mm studded tyres (well, at least for Marathon Winter to fit).

I know a Plug can manage, but am not sure about the Pomp. You guys have the knowledge?

  • Get a pomp while they're dirt cheap in the sale... Not sure about the clearances though. I've only run 28s on mine so far.

  • Certain posts in this thread would suggest that 35 is OK and there's some suggestion that it could handle bigger. I personally can't confirm either way. The specs as stated by On-One say 32s are ok and slick 35s will also fit.

I know they are cheap, but I'd rather not get a frame I am not sure will do what I expect it to do.

  • And thanks, doppelkorn.

Maybe someone will pipe up with pictures to confirm it either way.

  • Here's another shot.

    • Skunkworks, mine had 32mm Kenda Small Block 8s, it could have taken bigger but you'd lose some movement in the drop outs, you wouldn't be able to mount the wheel right forward. The 2012 frame has more room though - they state it'll now take 35mm CX tyres.
  • @ Skunkworks - can the plug really take tyres that big? I'm impressed.

  • Hugo7, I've seen two Plugs parked outside our office with 35mm Winters.

And fatboy: thank you. It sounds like the Marathons could be an option.

EDIT: One source states that the 35mm Maras are 34.1mm wide.

  • Stick a pair of 35mm knobbly tyres in it (there's more than enough room for them)

Just seen that on their site

I think that sealed the deal.

    Thanks, man!

White is right.... YORRRRKKKKSHIRE... YOOORRRRKKKSHIRRREEEE... YOORRRKKKKSHIRRRE!

  • Almost certain I have 35s in mine. Slick though.

Have you considered a Pompetamine? Takes 38mm tyres with some clearance, and disc brakes have certain advantages in crap weather.

The standard tyres that come on the Charge Plug is 32c.

I love their mish-mash of decals. Classic English for the headbadge, 50s Americana on the toptube and a 90s splash on the downtube.

I'm definitely painting it red now if it'll wind up a Tyke. Humbrol yeah?
