One of Griffin's beefs against cyclists is that many ride with earphones.
Personally I do not nor would I advocate that anyone should.
That said, I find this argument from motorists nonsensical and deeply hypoocritical.
How many motorists drive with windows shut and radios or CD players blasting out sufficiently loudly to ensure that they cannot hear a bicycle bell or a scream of warning?
Indeed a few years ago I watched in horror as a lorry slowly crushed a cyclist with motorists and pedestrians screaming at him to stop while he, sitting behind glass and probably listening to music, drove slowly on.
Drivers who cannot hear can kill. Most cyclists can hear a car's horn above their music.
