Best cyclocross bike under £1000 and other CX chat

I used my CX bike all through the winter as my main mode of transport, including the Rapha Festive 500, I found that the gearing was pretty good for that, I almost never changed at the front, which was lucky as the front shifting is rubbish, so effectively ran a 50 to 11-32 transmission.

I was never a huge fan of these:
So now have Hollowgrams with the modular spider.

I had 48/36/26 to 11-32 for a while. I was quite happy off road in the middle ring. Then I do most of my off-roading on a spiny SS.

I went to 50/34 as an upgrade, when I tore a pedal out. 50 was way to big a ring, and 34, despite not being far from 36, just irritated me.

Trial riding on a CX, is'nt the same thing as CX racing though. I cant see a 11-32 cassette being a good idea for that.
