It will work but not very well, it will be tough to set up, and will always rub somewhere. It is designed for a closer ratio, smaller outer ring (like 44 34 24)
Ideally you would want the road triple to suit the ratios. And it depends a bit on the shifters, as the indexing on road shifters won;t work without the right mech.
