  • Came back from a skiing holiday to find that the shed had been raided and the following bikes stolen: Scott CR1 with Campagnolo Centaur triple groupset (bought 2004).
Scott CR1 with Shimano 105 Double Groupset (bought about 2007).
    (Both Black Carbon Frames)
Colnago CLX with Shimano Ultegra Groupset & DT Swiss Wheels (bought 2009) - Black & White Carbon Frame.
Pinarello Aluminium Time Trial Bike with Shimano groupset & Bontrager TT bars. (Metallic Blue frame).

I'm in the Oxford area, if you know or hear anything about it please let me know!

  • I am so sorry to hear that Aaron :-( Covered by insurance?

  • Apparently the house insurance doesn't cover bikes locked in shed. Absolutely gutted!

  • Oh rollucks. Will be sure to keep an eye out for them.

  • Double-check that. Mine (Barclays) covers bikes so long as they are locked to an immovable object. Whether they are behind a locked door or not doesn't seem to count.

  • Thanks guys, I will look at the insurance policy again!

  • STOLEN WHEELS:

Goldtec hubs laced to Open Pro with Gatorskin tyres. Stolen this evening from outside the Eagle on Shepherdess Walk - anyone get's offered a cheap pair, let me know please. Thanks all.

  • Friend's Charge Iron stolen yesterday from the corner of St Johns & Clerkenwell during work.

Only arrived from Australia (where he'd been living) last week.

  • i work one street from there, will keep an eye out.

  • My housemates' bike was stolen recently on 1 April (I know it's probs long gone by now but worth a shout). Was locked to a lamppost outside 1 Bunhill Row, EC1Y 8YY and taken between 5pm and 8pm.

    His description:

    A silver 1970s-1980s road bike:

    • manufactured by P. Blondin, Strasbourg
    • shiny, silver drop handlebars without tape or other covering
    • clunky, new, cheap, black plastic pedals
    • a little grubby
    • black, cylindrical bell on stem between handlebars
    • 2 gear levers on downtube
    • black saddle with red stripe down each side
    • wire, aluminium bottle cage on the downtube
    • dull metallic seat post with grooves running the length of it
    • Gatorskin tyre on front wheel
    • black light brackets on handlebars and seat post

Can see how much it meant to him from that description alone! Also a photo below. Extra bits from my memory are that it's got weinmann calipers and vitus tubing - but he's got everything else above. I know it's not worth a huge amount but it's got a shit load of sentimental value to him. Any spots or info would be greeted with much happiness on his part.

  • My bike was stolen from the hallway of my flat in Finsbury Park on Wednesday 11th April between 11pm and 8am. The two wheels were locked to the frame with an abus chain / disk lock.

It was an all matte black Condor Pista 50cm t-t, no decals / logos etc. Was an older frame I bought second hand from the dudes on Leather Lane. Not sure what year model, but was built from Deda aluminium. Description...

    • Carbon fork sprayed matte black
    • Miche Advanced cranks, black
    • Black chain with silver connecting link, also has a half link in it somewhere
    • Black Odyssey Twisted Plastic pedals with homemade velcro foot straps
    • Dia Compe Hubs (32h)
    • H+Son machines deep V rims, black
    • Black spokes with silver nipples
    • Vittoria Rubino Pro 700x25 tyres
    • Shimano freewheel on one side, EAI fixed on the other
    • Black BLB brake callipers
    • Cane Creek cross top levers
    • Black taped Nitto mini bullhorns
    • Cinelli Vai stem
    • Condor 60th Anniversary carbon seat post
    • Fizzik saddle
    • The seat post clamp and head spacers had little Condor logos on them
    • Black Knog lights front and rear, Specialized water bottle in holder on down tube

I've attached the most recent picture I have, but the rims have been replaced with black deep V's since it was taken and also now has the additions of water bottle and pedal straps.

Absolutely gutted losing this so any info or sightings greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

  • Based in Finsbury, I'll keep an eye open

  • +1. Will keep my eyes open round FP too.

  • and around Highbury

  • At one time no one wanted to steal fixed gear bikes hence their popularity with cycle couriers who wanted a bike that was resistant to theft. It is shame that you have to keep getting a worse and worse bike in order to be able to hang onto it. I think the old humble shopper bike is still pretty theft resistant.

  • I dont think those couriers had carbon forks and deep V rims back then. And its in thief's nature to grab everything that shines....

The number of bike thefts is alarming... and it's become somewhat of a "business". Theifs are not afraid of being caught on CCTV , or selling a full carbon bikes for 70£ on the street.

    This is just pure insolence.

  • I had some kids come in today trying to off load a couriers bike that looks like its a work horse, I gave them £50 quid so I could find it's home again without it finding its way into the wastes of hackney,

Its about a 57 on first look its matt black 70's with forged short dropouts, has a 3/4 chrome fork, with a shimano 600 (old squared off caliper, around arabesque sort of age...) with a tech 99 lever, its reasonably light though the way the seat stays come into the frame I think its a raleigh, it has 130bcd sugino cranks with a 48 ring and is fixed,
front wheel is formula zx sealed black rim
rear wheel is flip flop with a black 45 degree oblique rim

it was royal metallic blue which is chipped off the top tube for about 10-12 inches, from wear.

Call pia on zero79460two6785 for details, I'm presuming it went this week as I got it about 6 this afternoon.

please help me find the owner!!! I have done this twice before and we managed to find the owners both times!!

I saw this (or something which looked pretty similar) yesterday locked to a post outside Pret a Manger on Eastcastle Street. I'd gone out to get some lunch during the downpour and when I came back 10 minutes later it was gone.

Sorry, I didn't see the rider.
