shit, I actually reached my sponsorship target and now have to cycle home :I
Congratulations on reaching the sponsorship target!! :-)
However, I have to commiserate on riding back to Lunnon. See if you can get your legs massaged before you get on the bike. Stretch the legs loads too.

70 pages?! I used to run a lot (10k each morning) at school and college but stopped entirely at uni as my cycling increased. Ballsed my knee up climbing soon after so I've never really returned to it however I have a desire to be less fat - and cycling isn't doing it for me at the moment (despite sporadic attempts on the turbo trainer)
Without reading through this entire thread, is it actually worth getting one of these gait checks done at somewhere like Runners Need? If so, how much is it likely to cost? Ordinarily I'd say balls to it and get a pair of Walsh trail shoes but since my knee is fucked it feels like I walk with my toes pointing slightly inwards now so I don't want to destroy my joints without someone telling me it's OK first.

Yes, definitely worth getting checked out properly - it's free! I went to Runners Need at Holborn and they were really nice and didn't laugh at my Forrest Gump style run.
Good luck getting back into running!!

^^ Free?! I thought it'd be like a bike fitting or something and they'd charge you an arm and a leg.
Ace : ) Thanks! I'll pop in tomorrow!

What pace shall I aim for in tomorrow's park run? Or shall I just run it and take is as it comes.
Decisions, decisions.
I'm going to aim for 23 and see what happens.
Sit somewhere warm and quiet and eat walnut cake followed by lemon drizzle. That's what I'd do. -

And to Ed running in Paris !! Allez Allez!!I can't say I'm looking forward to it. Also people keep asking me things like 'so do you think you'll do it in sub 4 hours then?' at which point I start laughing hysterically.
I am assuming there will be other slow crap people there who are rubbish at running and only managed three training runs; if this isn't the case it's going to be quite embarrassing.

I can see you're going to be my type of runner.
Seriously though, good luck to all the people doing races this weekend!

Seriously there will be loads of people at different paces.
I am no swifty eithier and to be able to complete it would be an amazing achievement.
I am trying not to stress about how long its going to take but to get to the finish line !
You will be fine and people say the last few miles is a mental, thing just will yourself on, thats what I found in my last few long runs .
You can do it !!x -

Put on a Victorian deep sea divers costume, that way no one will expect you to do it in less than eight hours.

You lost me at "smacks" :-).
I'm having a semi-English* as my post-run reward and also because I'll be helping out at Tooting track in the afternoon.
*This assumes I roll out of bed in time. Plan B is porridge and coffee with a slightly guilty feeling.

^^ Bloody hell!! Can I have your legs and lungs please?
My time was 26.50, according to my ancient Garmin. I'll check the Park Run site later to see what they made it. My fingers are still freezing so I'll have to wear thicker gloves next time.
Shower and large breakfast now. I'm happy with my efforts and my lungs didn't shut down. Yay!

I ran to the park run local to here (its 7k away), missed the start because I got lost and then ran back.
Good times. -

Good times.LOL - sorry for laughing but that reminded me of the time I thought it would be a good idea to ride to the start of the Richmond 10K and got completely lost trying to find the right exit gate closest to the start. 30 mins after the race had started, I found it.
On the other hand I did end up doing a complete lap and a half of Richmond Park. Still can't read a map too well though!
Next time for you.

26.49 according to the Park Run website. I'd forgotten I'm a vet. My PB remains at 25.21, so that's my target to beat before xc season begins.
The open day at Tooting athletics track was well attended. I was especially glad to the large turn out of young folk and the even younger folk who took part in the 100m race :-).
