• I'm an old man, at 4am I'll be in bed with my blanket drawn up to my chin.

Rubbish - you're probably younger than me!

I'm very much with Vinyl on the new Defender, in person the guy who designed it isn't actually retarded. And when you bear in mind how many japanese companies are offering after-market add-ons for modernising the current model to make them look 'more' (twisted performance/BBH/JE/I could go on, there are probably over 10 comedy/serious companies on this mortal coil alone) and less geriatric in its' engineering.

There are a few enthusiasts that are quite rightly complaining that it detracts too much from the 'work horse' look of the defender, but when you bear in mind just how long the current model has been produced it is time to modernise it. Those country types deserve a walnut-dashed leather box to potter about the country estate in. Nobody said the same when the Series 3 was replaced.

It looks "modern utilitarian" to me - whatever the hell that means. And yes you're right, it will sell in MASSIVE numbers to all the people who can't afford a Strange Rover. Bear in mind how many people are buying defenders these days who never take them off road as people are disillusioned by the current Rolls Royce models. This will be a perfect fit and Landy Jag will make less of a loss. Also a good opportunity to upgrade the thing as the internals are a bit ancient these days.

Already a few after market companies producing concepts for the market as well, so we can expect to see a real peach from Khan.

    Fixed.
