  • You'd still need a dual lever, to pull two cables, but yeah, that could work.

Shame I've just bought brakes. 2013...

  • A bit too much, polo'ing with this under your stem.

one good crash and its gone

  • That's a cable to hydraulic adapter. I guess you could use it, but adjusting between rear and front might be interesting. As for adjusting the power between the two you could run a 160mm rotor up front and a 140/120 at the back, the problem you then have is that most disc brake ready frames are designed for 160mm rotors at the back.
Ideally you need to find an MC large enough to operate two brakes (moto trials) and then find two mtb calipers with different piston sizes. Hope refused to tell me the piston size of their calipers but did tell me that I'd need a 13mm MC piston to operate their brake. Some Hayes brakes use a 24.9mm piston.

^ You could move it further out of the way if you don't use the bracket supplied

  • Not a high-dollar bike like some on here, but it works for me....

  • Seen on lobp (Johnny Rooster's bike), for you guys who want to run 2 discs with a dual lever..

Shimano Deore LX - modded single independent dual brake lever
    -R. hydro disc
    -F. mech. disc

  • i was wondering about this. I think julian in seattle has done something similiar. i wanted to give it a go. Anyone got a lever in a box? I' just gonna use, mech and mech though.

  • We've had front and rear mechanical brakes running on a promax lever in birmingham, works fine.

  • so you are using the gear thumbs shifter to grab the back?

  • nope, normal double brake lever for skidz and endos.

  • ah right thought you were referring to the above picture.

  • Man loves a good endo!!

  • Since this happened to my polo bike

    (frame is bent)

    I found this

    From here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BANKRUPT-26-CHROMOLY-SARACEN-UNPAINTED-16-5-BIKE-FRAME-CHEAP-NEW-/380371914361?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item588feece79http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336527178&customid=&item=380371914361&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

It looks like a Saracen Kili comp from 1996ish. I think it would have been a rigid not a hardtail to BB height shouldn't be a problem. 1,1/8" headset which is better than what I currently have. I'll have change to a 90 or 100mm stem as it's 15mm shorter in the top tube over my old frame.

  • Ah man, what happened? After you worked so hard and that frame rode so well! (making it worse aren't I?) Glad you're back on the polo build already...good luck!

  • So this is Max Power v.2 (number 13), this has newer styled drop outs, bottle mounts and, ahem, pannier rack eyelets (my request). I'm putting skinnier tyres on to help with weight. I'm happy with the 60mm stem. Feels really solid, except FBO is hard to get used to from the off. I might well be going back to dual brakes.

  • i should borrow that calipper off you sooner rather than later then!

    looks awesome and rides awesome!!

  • yeh love it bogey, bbbam!

  • Nice bike Bogey!

  • Hang on a minute ...

    Non drive side photo?

    Where is spoons?

  • Driveside for spoons!

  • double saddle for your big butt.

  • Are you going to route the brake through the steerer tube for neatness? it looks vulnerable where it is.

    looks good though.

  • How do you find the mega-low bar? Totally different riding position to your old bike, right?

  • Completely different! I've been playing around lowering the saddle and it'll take a while to get used to it, will persevere with it. The one nice thing is having proper leg extension, I don't think I've ever played polo and had correct leg extension. Then again, I've never played polo on a bike this high up, centre of balance was never an issue on a jump frame.

    looks good though.

won't fit, the axle-crown is 360mm and the tyre clears the crown by a mm. smaller tyre going on soon, but feel this will still be an issue. I got my hands on a zip tie and the cable is out of the way now.
