And after an afternoon in the shed/garden, I have this.
Still not sure about the STI/separate levers quandry, but the wheels I'm getting have a 9 speed block on, so I can't use the STI with them anyway. Just need to decide what to do with the other 653 frame I bought recently.
Ugly ass chainring, but the original 600 one is nearly done. Might just stick it back on, it's not skipping or owt.
Components are 6500 wheels, 6400 rear mech, 7400 front mech, 6400 crankset, simplex downtube shifters and 105 brakes. Then Cinelli bars/stem.
I just hope the weather's good tomorrow so I can take it for a proper ride. Need to see if I get on with the brooks any better on a smaller bike (different crotch position) or whether I need to put a rolls on it.
