Howard, I just did that route today too, was lovely, apart from a few thorny punctures. And we missed the rain by about 10 minutes!

Ace - I'm itching to get back there! Good rain dodging too :)
1894mk2 - plug your garmin into your computer then go to connect.garmin.com and set up an account. You should be able to publish traces from there. Otherwise try strava?

Just to test my new chainrings, cables and cassette were working properly.
We saw snow, sleet, rain and hail, we also felt the 50mph gusts.
'Twas tough out there today.Bikes working a treat again.

I'd be up for a little weekend jaunt in the woods. I've never ridden with anyone from the forum so it'd be good to meet some people and i'm getting desperate to go mountain biking again. It's been a while.
however in anticipation of recapturing my MTB yoof, around christmas, I built up a 98' Kona Kilauea (631) front suspension little beauty. and have only used it once so far this year! -

I love this - looks like it will just roll over anything. Want.
I'm thinking of heading out on Saturday if anyone wants to come with - most likely Swinley for a couple of hours.

I would love to go on Saturday, unfortunately i'd be in serious shit with my special lady friend.
how often do you go there. and I'm assuming I need a permit, is that right?
The other question is how hard do you ride? (I only ask as I haven't been riding as much as I used to/haven't been on a mountain bike in years). -
• #3188
I try to get out every couple of weeks or so. For Swinley you buy a permit on the day or purchase a yearly pass. It's not expensive.
We don't ride very hard - I'm still enjoying learning the ropes and finding the limits of my ability and parts-bin bike.

I'm going to be riding at Swinely on Saturday morning. Would be good to meet some more mtb folk. OK if I tag on? I'll be on a red Spez pitch and will have a overkill helmet on probably.

What kind of wheels / tyres are they, they look massive!
-
• #3195
I'm after a 30.9 Thomson seatpost - 400mm if possible. Does anyone have one they would like to move on/sell? Cheers in advance

It's a fat bike, originally for snow/sand, i got it for beach riding, but have been using it one trails for a while, it's wicked, rolls over everything, takes the edge off bumps, etc. I got a few punctures though, so much surface area for bastard hawthorns to stab your tyres!
