Finally got my crit bike together:
7.9kg with pedals, so not the lightest, but it is aluminum. It is super stiff though, which I like.
Geometry is different to my Planet X, so some more fiddling to get the set up right. In particular, the bars are over rotated forward, but I need to move the levers down and then tilt back again.

AndyP - love that Scapin.
My mate has got a similar colour scheme Scapin with wound up forks. I will try and dig out a picture.

Sweet ride BTW andy.... Appart from the red, of course. But I guess it matches your inferior club kit.
Talk is cheap. Will I see you at Palace in the summer?

Was thinking that too, despite the chain being thinner, the inside diameter is still the same, thus work on any 3/32 chainset*.
*AFAIK.
9, 10 and 11 speed chains are 11/128", not 3/32". If the rings are made for 10v, you can use them with 11v chain etc., but the chainring spacing is slightly different so front indexing may be less than perfect.

I'm sure you're right.
My eggbeaters just keep on working though. They're not great for long rides though.Candy pedals have wider platform. I remember eggbeaters made the ball of my foot ache and 10 miles. It's probably worse with softer sole.

I've found a possible replacement frame for my rat-bike. It's an F. W. Evans, 531 tubing with headset and BB already installed. The geezer wants 20 quid for it. Reckon it's a bargain? From what I can read from searching on here FW Evans made some pretty tidy tourer frames that fetch around £100 in good condition...
Bargain, don't hesitated, F.W. Evans used to be like Condor by sourcing out framebuilder to built their frame in the past before it become a reseller.
Incidentally Evans is now going back to it's root; they're currently going to bring out classic steel F.W. Evans based on a combination of the original geo with modern touch (like Reynolds 631, 853 etc.), I seen some kitted out with Campag Athena.
Here's a great example, an F.W. Evans 80's ATB.

Cool, will do. I'm not sure the guy who's selling it knows it's worth, and I don't think he minds what he gets for it because he got it free. I thought there might be some connection between FW Evans and the Evans chain today. Thanks for the info Ed!

The Canyon I just got built up above is exactly so; SRAM rival Chainset with Athena 11sp for the rest of the group. Solely because I got the chainset cheap to replace a compact. No discernible issues with the switching yet, and the mechanic was pleasantly surprised after some initial concern.

It's the same company, last year they roll out their 90th anniversary model by Pashley.
This year, they'll be producing their own model;

Shamelessly insubstantial project update alert. Decided to swap out my alloy bottle cage for a titanium one which matches nicely with the chainset.
Quick question as well. My bottle's aesthetically pleasing but a bit dribbly, and I do like my Lucozade Sport. Are those nice grey Campag bottles properly non-drip?

Can someone help me with dynamo light please? If you have a front light with a stand light capacitor, can you use that standlight to run a rear light? i.e. a rear with no standlight, will run off the the front standlight.
Or shall I just get a rear wtih a stand light?

Ed's your man for that type of thing.

Just because I got a SON generator hubs does not make me Mr Dynamo.

Building a bike myself for the first time and its taking longer than expected. Now I'm standing still cause I have to wait on some parts I ordered...
Anyway I think I'm doing a good job for an amateur.
Its a Planet X SL Pro Carbon frameset with Shimano 105 5600 group. Sadly enough I'm not in the financial state to get anything better but I'll be saving to upgrade to a late Ultegra or maybe even Dura-Ace some day.
White s/post and glossy black carbon bottlecages are on its way. White tape on the bars and black Prologo saddle with white details are waiting to be installed :)Heres some in progress pics.

First of of this thread:
NEVER post non drive side photos.
I like how Dwayne's been quiet on the forum as of late and then pops in to drop another excellent bike.
