  • Held a wheel for 52 mins - then lost it without saying bye - never took the front also - sorry - didn't feel capable

  • Through elimination I have worked out you were the dude on the Canyon. Hello there and welcome to the fold!
Quite a quick night for a first one. Good to see some fresh new faces amongst the haggered usuals.

    **Special mentions:
**C.B. - for doing sterling work on the front and riding strong through the yoyoing pace of us geared slackers
Hovis - all that rest has been good for you; strong til the end and the bike is looking nice with those wheels too
Laner - for his epic effort on the front when the rest of us were flagging
    Dov - for turning up

I made it 22 miles @ 23.7mph, which is a solid start to proceedings. Maybe this is the year we break 25.

  • 6pt. repped for doing the most work up front and maintaining modesty about it.

    Also great to meet everyone.

  • I was dropped after a lap-and-a-half; I limped around for the next six-and-a-half on my own. Then found I had managed a rolling average of 20.7mph.

You guys were very fast tonight! Strong work.

  • Thanks 6pt and CB for dragging me round. definitely a strong start to the year

  • Good to see you all before you set off. Laps were off the card for me today as I didnt want to over take another carbon roadie ahem6pt and embarrass them.

Many curbs were bunny hopped on the way to and from wests

  • I'm in for next week and will hopefully be bringing along a non-forum comrade. I predict being dropped almost instantly.

Don't worry i heard 6pt will do a 'warm up lap first...'

  • Everyone held on through the warm-up lap this time :(

  • Back on the turbo then? or you didn't train hard enough throughout the winter! =p

  • Will be in next week, apparently I need to find a lot of form by then though!

  • I think everyone else has upped their game a bit this time around and my advantage is diminished.
Plus these things are always easier when you're not on the front.
    #excuses

  • I was looking at carbon clincher rims with an alu braking surface from china on ebay just now; nearly 2kg for the wheelset!

yeah it is, but I'm not sacrificing half a kilo just to have a bit of carbon. (Project chinese carbon road bike is soon to start).

Just found this beauty in the archives.

  • and it's true. My carbon wheels weigh about 1700g. Not 2000g.

  • good to see JD and whoever the dude was thazt was riding with him.

hear some jackass scream DO A SKIIIIIIIIIIIID as he cut me up with this monster of a harem chasing him

    Dov, lovely cool down

HoKe PoKie, beers are for... hell, just ppl who even turn up...

  • Sounds like i missed a quick one tonight guys :-(

Oh well i sold some crabon so i can haz buy more crabon. Gears incoming in 2 weeks!

In other news i plan to be there 84" fixed next week.

  • That's only a lap, not a session, but top of the pile yay. Looking in to Strava tonight, it's been quite entertaining. At least one other guy that was out on Thursday is on there, listed in the segment records, half a lap or so ahead. And so the paranoic riding/stalking begins. Everyone's a target...

And that, right there, is the moment it all Went Wrong.

  • A pleasure rolling with OSR and 6pt today. Average 19.75mph. Apparently thats slow, I thought it was fast. Cant imagine ill ever go faster than that without taking steroids

    FAO Hovis.

  • (can't sleep)

  • But you gain the magic ability of being able to run reds and mow down pedestrians with impunity, and not have to go fast anymore. You sell your soul but you gain your freedom.
    Sleveless is an abomination.

    FAO Tiswas.

  • I am that Canyon dude. Thanks everyone for a good sweat. I'll be back...

  • Ha! I see the "Warm up/Insanity Wolf" first lap put everyone in the top 10 or 20 on Strava

  • Too fast for me...

  • I think everyone else has upped their game a bit this time around and my advantage is diminished.

Things are easier when you have carbon tubs, frame and lots of lovely gears.

Cheers Tom, was a good sess. I reckon if the police/ambulance diversion hadn't be there we might have cracked 24. Very good start to the year! Will try spend a bit more time at the front next time.

    See y'all next week!
