Luffa Complex drops (theres a spray and tablets-but not tried them)
Its a ballache and takes a week to kick in, but used it for 2 Spring/Summer/Autumn (I used to have the kind of Hayfever that put me in bed)
Since using, its almost dissipated completely
Bought some of this today. At a tenner a bottle I hope I get some relief, tastes nice though!

go to the doctor and get prescribed fexofenadine 180mg antihistamine tablets. I take them for other allergies (dust mite). Have not had an episode of sneezing that I used to get randomly since I started taking them everyday. That was 4 months ago.

I have the same thing, can't eat raw apples. Read up on it and turns out apples have the same allergens as birch which I'm very allergic to. Real shame, I love them apples!
I'm also allergic to raw apples. Never known anyone else to suffer this, and didn't know the source, although i'm not allergic to birch as far as i am aware.
Weird.

^ never met anyone with the same issues either, although i've heard several times that it's 'quite common'. Perhaps it's embarrassing?

I'm a sneezy, sand-paper-eyed mess after TNRC yesterday. Hellooooooo pollen. Oh, you're so back!

Not being funny but I had a treatment which stopped my hayfever, permanently, for an entire YEAR.
After 3 treatments (3 years) I no longer have hayfever.
So anyway, it was acupuncture. And before you start guffawing at the witchcraftery and hokum, I went to the first treatment thinking it wouldn't work. It was recommended by my mother, who is a theatre nurse, and swore blind to me it worked. Initially I lampooned her for it, but as, without a shadow of a doubt, she was a woman of science I gave in and had my first treatment.
I walked into the treatment room with a blocked nose and red eyes. After the first few needles went in the doctor said 'now breath in through your nose', and it was TOTALLY clear. As I went in a total sceptic thinking I was about to be scammed and only going in to keep my mum happy (as the doctor who administered the treatment was a professional and family friend), it actually weirded me out for a bit.
This is just my experience, but I used to have really bad hay fever and all I can say is acupuncture TOTALLY sorted me out. No more having to remember pills, wheezing at night, avoiding fields, I recommend it whenever and wherever I can.
Like I said, I went in a sceptic thinking it was a load of tosh, but it totally sorted me out.

^ sounds like voodoo.
I won't lie, I actually freaked out a little bit. I do not believe in ANY other homeopathic 'new age' crap.
But acupuncture I now have time for.

last year my hayfever wasn't just bad, it felt like it just about killed me.
Had to be off work for about 3 weeks during july/august with no pay as I couldn't leave the house without wearing a mask and goggles. Was told by the docs there was nothing stronger they could give me, yet mentioned it this year and 'oh yes we have druuuuuugs for that'.
bstrds. Also in november with leaf mould, never had that before, was almost as bad for a few days.

Very interesting ODB, if its true it would mean that somehow the prodding around with nerves has an effect on the immune system. Who wouldve thunk it.
Can I ask where the needles went in?

Hayfever really addles my mind, it's like I'm hungover. Easily done matey ;)
That's a good tip, might try being obsessive.
I'm relatively new to this game so not sure what works for me yet.
My next move is emigrating to Australia, so I'm hoping that works. :)I moved to Melbourne, not realising it is the hayfever capital of the world. I shit you not. Never have I had hay fever so bad as here. So as long as you avoid Melbs you should be ok in your quest to avoid the plague that is hayfever.

Used to suffer seriously from hay fever, seriously reliant on anti-histamines etc. Local honey totally sorted it, just started chucking it in coffee, on cereal, bread. No real dosing plan. Apparently it raises your tolerance to the local pollens. Might be difficult in London proper though, unless there are Hackney beekeepers or something.

Local honey does work, but only if you smear it over your eyes, nostrils, and lips. Get the set stuff, heat it, spread it over your orifices, leave to reset. Pollen's not getting in. Job done.

using a neti pot three times a day, followed by snorting big dollops of vaseline up my snoot, works pretty well for me.
yes, it's both disgusting and comical but the warm salt water from the neti pot washes away the pollen and sooths the inflamed mucous tissue in my sinuses. The vaseline seals them away from pollen for a few hours.I picked this up from an lfgss post a few years ago.
Belated thanks to whoever posted the idea, it's really helped. -

Gah! I'm in the rubbing your eyeballs out brigade, doesn't seem to help much. Drugs for me and even then they don't help a lot- certainly not a cure- you still need to reduce the dosing by not riding at peak times etc

I had an especially hard time in Epping forest this weekend, the more speed I picked up the more crap flew into my eyes. Awful.

I've never experienced any level of hay fever before but I've had itchy eyes and a runny nose every morning and evening for the last week or two. I've seen on BBC news that the pollen levels and pollution levels are high at the moment. Taking an antihistamine seems to help so I suppose I'm a hay fever sufferer now!
Interesting to see that regular suffers are, well, suffering.

Welcome back, hayfever!
Now I wish I hadn't complained so much about the rain for the last few weeks.

Anyone else?

Can we merge all those hayfever threads with "fuck my eyes!" ?
-
• #50
Isn't the 'fuck my eyes!' thread more about plane tree pollen as an irritant rather than as an allergen?
I have to wear swim goggles when those fluffy bastards pop.
