That is a really nicely made frame. Top drawer. -

Has anyone heard of Albini (no, not Steve of Big Black / Rapeman / Shellac / Electrical Audio fame)?
I picked up a road frame off Italian ebay for my wife. Got it delivered today (only 5 days to Australia! Amazing). Columbus fork ends and drop outs, I'm assuming Columbus tubing, amazing paint (pearl white with three colour fade). All it has is ALBINI on the downtube and an A on the head tube. I made her buy it because I'm a fan of the bands Steve Albini has been in / is in and she wanted a vintage steel road frame and this was her size.
Googling Albini is pretty hard, all I came across is this: http://bikeraceinfo.com/giro/giro1913.html and the name Pierini Albini, which leads to this... http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierino_Albini
Any other details?

What the fuck did I buy?
I suspected it was a 2006 or there abouts Langster frame, perfect for a new commuter. I had all the parts to build it up, but found it only has a 1" head tube. It doesn't look like any Langsters came out like that. It's fairly light alloy with teardrop shaped main tubes, and a relatively distinctive rear brake bridge.
Thoughts, oh wise brethren of LFGSS?

^ Rear bridge is the same as a Surosa I sold last autumn
http://www.lfgss.com/thread76530.html
Track ends look to be the same shape, mine had a 1" headtube too and took a 27.2mm seatpost with a clamp.
My bridge wasn't drilled but was punched to show you where to start. My guess is a decent but generic far east import - I've seen similar ones badged up as fort, dolan and surosa.
Hope this helps

Hey Guys,
not sure that this is the right thread, but does someone know what frame Jeannie Longo is riding in this picture? I can't find it out...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Jeannie_Longo%2C_Mendrisio_2009_%E2%80%93_Women_Elite.jpg
The picture is not very detailed to put it nicely, but perhaps someone knows what equipment she uses...
Thanks a bunch! -

The only clues on the Longo's frame are the rear brake bridge and that sticker on the seat-tube - likely to be boutique titanium and rebadged with her name, the front wheel is a Lightweight standard that's been de-stickered and although the gears are SRAM, it's a record carbon chainset.... a cursory google only shows up other people asking the same question!

Anyone know what sunglasses these are? (p13 of cyling weekly)

What are these wheels?
9 speed Campag, 24 spokes:
Now it says Proton on the rims, so I assumed these were Proton wheels:
But I've been told that Proton wheels have black hubs?

But I've been told that Proton wheels have black hubs?
I was going to say they're purdy.
Helpful.
But they do look like an older model, than the protons I've seen on Ebay. Maybe they had silver hubs on earlier versions?

I found out they're Specialized Miura, you'd stand out in a group of Oakley radars.

That peak bit looks well annoying. Admittedly I have good back flexbility, and zero neck flexiblity. But still.
Untill I can convince Dennis Taylor to sell me his old playing glasses. Radar XL FTW. Straight blades so I can break the rules and have my helmet straps on the outside.

Just got home with my attic find.
Almost a shame to turn into a fixie project, bit i'm going to do it anyway. Specifically looked for a chrome fork to make something similar to bertellibici's Domenica Sport;
But that is a whole different story, i'd like to know more about this bike, because i found out through this site that farnholt liked rebranding. It has colombus tubing, not checked the fork yet though. Completely 105 assembled.
Anyone thoughts about frame origin and date of production? and what about the wheels/fork/steer? Love to know more, still kind of a newby in fixies world.
thanks guys!

REALLY REALLY REALLY DO NOT CONVERT
For a start it would make a rubbish fixie skidR. Your best bet is to clean it up, fresh cables, pads and a deep clean/ regrease. Then sell it on here/ via ebay, and just buy exactly what you want with the money.
its not quite puppy killing, but its not a gas pipe wreck either, if you know what I mean ;) -

its not quite puppy killing, but its not a gas pipe wreck either, if you know what I mean ;)Thanks for the reply brickman, why would it make a rubish fixie?:p was thinking about freewheeling it or even put a coaster hub in there, but for now the plan is to grease and clean.
I live in the netherlands, and so these kind of bikes are not rare at all, mine was a real bargain though. Don't think i could buy anything in the vicinity of what i want, with the money i get for it once im done. Ill probably even loose money.
Was thinking about just using the frame/fork, polishing both handlebars and wheels, use spacer kit for rear wheel and bringing the frame to the powdercoater.
ill probably have the same fun fixing it up that way then in riding it. Couldnt buy anything close to what i want, with the money i can spend for it. Plus think of all the fun im having fixing it up.
Could be totally wrong though, nothing set in stone, all the time in the world.
Anybody perhaps more information on the frame? Or is it just a 99/100 frame, nothing special;)
thanks!
