Slight derail, but a question: what ratio do you run? I really have to up the 48/18 gear on the Bob because I've been riding the Feather this week at 47/17 and it feels quite a lot quicker, and no more bother on the hills mild inclines like Pentonville Road.
You ask me this at a time of indecision in my life. As you may remember from current projects my crank arm runs very close to the chain stay. When in my normal street ratio of 49x17 any push too hard and I get contact. So for the last week I have been running my track ratio of 49x15 on the street as I get contact less often (i guess its to do with how much torque the chain is under etc). Even with a ratio that big I still hit hills at the same speed and can be much quicker on the flat and I am tempted to stick with it.
I expect a typical forum out cry of Bad for your knees, yada yada yada anecdote about this and that.
