Lugs came out lovely. Mine weren't as sharp due to the thickness of the armortex powdercoat. Still happy riding though ;-p

This is true, I'd love to put decals on, but I've no idea what the frame is or who made it. Nothing stopping me making something up I suppose!

Your frame has identical lug work to a project that I'm about to embark upon. My frame is a Carlton Super Course from circa 1980/81 but Raleigh were also building identical frames at the time (I think it was in the crossover period when Raleigh had acquired the Carlton factory) so it could be one of those. But bizzarely I got chatting to a guy in Edinburgh recently whose bike also had identical lug work but he was convinced it was a completely different model so maybe those lug sets were quite popular at the time. If you can still make out the serial number beneath the recent paint job it might help identify it. I'm planning on going with black enamel paint with chrome plated chain stays, seat stays, and forks with these decals:

no chance... even if they do, it will still be really tacky, so you'd have to carry it home suspended from a string, completely shielded from dust.. Armourtex have a 2-3 day turnaround though, which I say is pretty damned good...

I think I herd that you need to bring your bike to them already broken down, or will they do that for you?

it needs to be completely stripped, including headset and bottom bracket. If you take it to a shop, I'm sure they'll do this for ~£10. I got my LBS to remove my crown race for free...

RAL 4010 with metallic lacquer.

Got it done at Armourtex, they were helpful and quick, and the powdercoat is really nicely done.

The metallic lacquer makes the colour look quite a lot lighter, I chose a slightly darker pink than I wanted to compensate and worked out well.

A mate of mine sprayed my 531 track frame last weekend. Don't know if it's exactly RAL 3005 but he called it wine-red.

It's done. It's a tiny bit metallic, promise!

Toying with the idea of doing some lug-lining to add a bit of 'something', as there are no decals to go on. I'm not sure on a colour though, contact points will be brown.

This is a beaut exactly as it is! Also the exact shade that I painted my bedroom... only my bedroom doesn't have any metallics in it.

Had my frame done by these guys, really really happy with the result and finish but they also did the dropouts... Can't afford to get the bike off the road again and take it back - any tips on how to clear the paint from there?

have a look at nitromors, it's horrid stuff, but pretty much the only thing that'll get through a powder coat. It may be hard to be precise with it.
Or just grab a beer, shit loads of emery paper of different grades and commit an evening to it.

My Langster before and after, Armourtex, black, no lacquer.

hmmm, just been down and dropped my frame and forks off. was definitely set on ral 6003 matt green which was perfect for a low key bike. however, the choice of colours there was too great and got the better of me and i ended up choosing 6027, which he then pointed out was virtually bianchi green. then as i was leaving i spotted an awesome 'rootbeer with clear laquer'. ive got 2 days to change my mind. sigh.

and yes very very friendly and patient there. nice to feel like a customer and not a hindrance.
