I am a transistor amp enthusiast. I actually do not like the way valve amps colour the sound let alone all the maintenance hassle. I like the way they sound when other people play them sure, but they are not for me. I prefer the predictable more transparent characteristics of a transistor amp. Much more balanced frequency response.
I play through a gibson/norlin L3, and would upgrade to its bigger brother the L5 (BB king amp) if I needed it for gigs. If I had lots of cash, it probably get an evans.
