earplugs man. do it. they sell em in reception of all the pools i've been to. prevention is nine tenths of the law... or something. i used to quite like wearing plugs, it makes pool swimming a lot more serene. i only stopped cos i couldn't hear the coach at club sessions.
i always wear a cap and noseclip though. resisted the noseclip on aesthetic grounds for a while but was suffering horribly with chrlorine irritation in the sinuses. small price to pay considering unless you're a 50 hour a week pro everyone looks like a dick in speedos and goggles anyway.
only takes a session or two to get used to mouthbreathing out and you're sorted.
