  • modelling amps = POC

its not because they sound bad, its just that there is something very important about the the feedback between the playing and real world acoustic effects going on in the cabinet. The ability to "choose" different kinds of modelling destroys playability in my opinion. Its probably mostly psychological. I feel the same way about multi-fx, even if they are good quality. I would prefer one or two individual stomp boxes.

If I was going to get a modelling amp, id look at roland, fender and tech 21.

Depends on the amp I reckon
I think the Line6 Vettas that we used to have in our rehearsal studios were bloody awful and displayed all the worst traits of modelling amps (still love the Pod XT Live for recording though).
My Vox AD120VT however is a tone monster. I suppose because a) it's still a valve amp of sorts, and b) there's still 2 60 watt channels going into a 2x12 Celestion cab it responds the way you want an amp to. Paired with a Les Paul it's fuckin' ace.
If the connectors were reliable it would be unbeatable.
