Hey guys. Welcome!

^^ If you have a flip flop hub why not stick a fixed sprocket on and give it a go? Its a matter of personal preference but I prefer hill climbing on fixed compared to SS.
In any case, welcome!

Already done that. Might give it a go fixed some time. I ride fixed back home where there are no hills so it might be cool to give a shot. Thanks for the idea.

I always wondered why I have not registered here earlier, considering how often I came back here to browse.. well. Everything.
In any case - good morning everyone, greetings from the country of absurds - PL.

How do...
Just joined, but think I used to be a member of this forum when it was under a different guise. Or maybe it was just a similar name.
Not in Londonium, but was looking for somewhere to get opinions on indie SS bike shops/builders.
Need to post three times huh before I can start a thread, so...

Hi! Just out of curiosity where is the country of absurds? Sounds like a lot of us would fit in there.

Welcome Harringtons, you may find that you will be able to find the answers to your questions without setting up your own thread (use the seach in the top right hand corner), it could also potentially save you from getting flamed. Not trying to be condescending, just a quick heads up. Also try hubjub they come very highly recommended.

I'm guessing the PL refers to Poland.

Cheers Bobbo, don't wanna get flamed of course. Bunch of flamers. I am searching through existing threads now.
And cheers for the link, had come across them before. Kinda looking for somewhere that has off-the-peg SS too, but you can tinker with them a bit. Probably can't afford to do a proper custom build and am not proficient enough to build myself.

So it does indeed, so it does indeed.
Since everyone's writing something about themselves-
Used to live in London for approx. a year in 2005 and one day i discovered the Duke.
It opened my eyes to cycling and the freedom it gives.
Never stopped cycling since.
Not even the harsh Polish winters stopped me. -

Hi another newbie here!
I can be seen commuting most of the length of CS7 each day on my SS. . . Not the rest of this week though after an trip over a car bonnet last night at the bottom of Balham Hill. -

Thanks! I managed to avoid any blood loss and broken bones, just pretty sore. Gutted i'm having to get the tube to work until i can get some new forks though.
Seems to be getting worse on that stretch lately. For anyone else who takes the CS7 south bound, be extra vigilant at the bottom of Balham Hill around the side streets. Particularly the junction with Yukon Road in my case.

I was hit by a non-indicating left-turning van at junction with streathbourne road and balham high road two and a half weeks ago so I wholeheartedly concur with this sentiment :(

Sounds like it could have been nasty. Hope there was minimal damage to you and the bike!

The beard part of the hat/beard combination is rough and manly enough to act as a hirsute airbag.

Afternoon!
Signed up y'day to update on a Rider Down thread but have been a lurker for some time.
Bitten by the bug after riding my friend's Lager a year or so ago. Ridden in London for 2ish years, very nearly finished my Langster project.

Hi,im new here and I was hoping to track down my Utube video of my near collision with a fixie rider at Fenchurch Street, only because I am interested.I saw a lot of referrals coming from this web site.I was riding a Charge Plug 10 at the time when the fixie rider did a blind right turn after a van had passed.
Newbie from Essex. Currently at uni in Exeter, riding SS there due to mad hills. Hoping to move to London after graduation.
