How does it ride? I've been toying with getting one to commute on as I'm bored with my pompino (again)
Well, I can tell you that it will be surprisingly responsive and sensitive after coming from the Pompino, it's also pretty hard to make it heavy, it weight 8.14kg at the scale in Brixton Cycles (currently have cheap part on it, i.e. Lasco crankset, Halo Aerotrack rear wheel), not too shabby for a heavy alu frame.
Given it's an alu track frame, it's not unexpected for it to be stiff and jarring, but with good tyres (25-28c), road fork, etc. it's not too bad after a couple of ride.
I set the rear wheel to sit as far back of the track end hoping to increase the wheelbase a bit in attempt to make it a little more stabler and comfortable.
edit: actually I reckon it handle similar to your Mercian.
