Twas just meant as a flippant suggestion rather than anything with serious weight.

I think it's a point, but Peckham does have a certain Je Ne sais quois.. The orange light.. The screech of sirens.. The imposing Collumns.. The manky corners and the waft of piss..
Maybe next Tuesday (weather permitting) we should do it so we can move things there..?
Taste of life outside Peckham? -

I'll be at Peckham, dunno where you guys are going... Maybe in the summer we can venture out of the fluorescent lights, I'm not changing it right now though.
Hadn't seen this.. Cowhen is boss in this nursery, just my thoughts ^^

The reason we didn't have it at Newington is because we didn't want to use the courts too many days of the week.
We had a lot of trouble with the neighbours and more recently the local kids, so we didn't want to take advantage.
As long as there's one court for the kids and the neighbours seem to be ok now, mabe it will be ok. I would run it past the association first though. -

Kit, I might be able to bring the loaner to Peckham this Tuesday.
I'm hoping that we'll have some new ladies from the session the other day, -
• #4192
Not gonna be around from tomorrow morning onwards, so loaner will be little use in me house.. I can store it here, but won't be able to get it for a few weeks from now, are there any other peckham-ites who can keep hold of it?

The last complaint from "over use" Dave/Sarah may know more about, but my impression is that it was largely blown out of proportion. (We were in trouble for having a length of wood near one of the courts a weekend back in October time But that was simply a walker asking the park's refuse van driver to come and pick it up/tell us off, no big deal.)
The locals like us using the courts (the dog walkers at the weekends and bike-riding soccer kids are especially welcoming), in the evenings be careful not to make too much noise and ensure the courts are litter free when you leave.
The rule of thumb is, if you're using two courts, then move to one if someone wants the second. Or if kids turn up and ask to use your court then play your last games and consider moving on (unless you've just arrived).
Newington is a public park and you shouldn't feel that you can't use it, it's got nothing to do with the LHBPA, although if needed many London polo players have a great relationship with Southwark and can get in touch on your behalf (under the LHBPA banner if needed), Kev's pretty clued up on all things Newington for example.
More beginner's polo/London throw-ins is always a good thing I reckon?

This is jokes yes? I'll explain when I see you if you don't know.
The problem (I think that Dave mentioned) was about the noise. The locals complained (which sparked (no pun intended) the lights being turned off which caused us a massive problem), but as I said this was a fair while ago and I suspect they may be ok with us now.
Why I mentioned talking to the others is because some of the LPC don't like it being over used either, so it was more courtesy rather than it being an LHBPC issue. -

The complaint was at a time when someone was breaking in to the light box, and the complaint was in relation to the lights being left on all night wasn't it?
-
• #4197
Yeah, I might be out of the loop regarding anything recent?
The lights were turned off back along because the box was tampered with and it became a safety hazard (risk of electrocution)? All power to the site was cut until Kev helped orchestrate having everything re-instated. When the lights were tampered with, they did stay on all night for a few nights, this was when someone was sent to inspect it and found it to be completely unsafe (tampered with).
Noise has been a small issue in the past, again I might be missing something? The only thing I know about was a residents group complaining that the park was loud in the evenings (Southwark pointed out the park has the usual restrictions that are borough-wide and that any generic park noise is part of living in the surrounding area). Obviously we should still try to keep the noise down though...
Fair enough if people think we're over-using it, but I don't think we are. If it became a real problem, we would ask Southwark to step in and give us certain days (possibly for a small fee), or to find us some more courts within their borough that we can use, we should only play less polo as a last resort!

Nb when I say someone it's popularly held belief by some southies that it was the basketball players that left it on all night.

Yes.
Can't make Peckham this tuesday but will be along next tuesday - will see if I can round up some of the girls that showed up on Saturday too.

So does that mean we could use Newt if all the beginners are on the same page and we behave ourselves with the usual low noise, free up court, clean up after ourselves etc etc? Just think it' such a shame to be stuck in a car park with sunny weather. Besides, the sooner we use a regular court more regularly, the better, no? As much as I do have a particular love (a weird one) towards the carpark, it doesn't give me the same feeling as when I play in Newt.
But after all, I can only play beginners every now and then from now, so whatever people decide.
