hardly any skid patches, I think that there are about 3, but I run single speed, not fixed, so rotating the tyre won't really help :(

There are an infinite number of skid patches on a SS setup due to your ability to coast. Skids are for kids on anything other than fixed. Use your front brake like a normal person.
