• Was due to meet some friends for a bit of a walk in the Peaks so decided to roll out on the fixed and meet the gf there. Pootled up Owler Bar out of town and spun down to Baslow. Hopped over the little hill to Chatsworth and stopped to admire the herds of sheep and deer being brought out from winter housing before rolling down through Beeley and Rowsley before heading up Alport Dale to Yougreave and over a few small lumps to Middleton. Chuffed with a good route choice and a pleasant little warm up before a walk.

Alas the gf called to let me know I was in the wrong Middleton and I was left with some hurried dale-hopping through Elton, wrecking my legs, a hard spin down the A road toward Cromford which turned my legs to jelly and a painful trudge up to the other Middleton and then a steep climb to Middleton Top. Legs are now completely fuckered and all because I'm too stupid to pay attention. My only solace is that had I taken the route I should have done I would have been left with finishing the ride with a 14% hack up Cromford Hill. Bad enough on gears.
