  • Sorry, Glock17, I should have realised that you're still in the Nursery, which is why you can't edit your post yet.

  • That Potenza photograph on Gumtree is from here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread55433.html

  • Good work, 606, so it could be the one we're looking for, after all.

    I asked for a moderator hippy or velocio to remove the link in the moderator's thread. Probably important as if it is stolen the tea leaf is clearly familiar with the forum.

  • Condor vendor has another bike on Gumtree;

    Also an urgent sale...

  • Condor vendor has another bike on Gumtree;

    And he lives in the area where the bike was stolen.

  • This could be useful

    Got this back today purely due to forum help; thank you to those who flagged it up, you know who you are.

    NOW THE IMPORTANT BIT

    If you see your stolen bike for sale online this is what to do:

    Arrange to meet the seller in a busy public place, during the week, and in daylight hours. (A tube station, for example).
    Then contact the police station nearest to where you have arranged to meet the seller, and explain the situation.

    The police don't have the authority to pose as buyers, so in arranging the meeting yourself, you will be bypassing a lot of red tape, and allowing the police to act far faster than they would otherwise be able to. (up to 3 days faster).

    Whatever you do, DO NOT go to meet the seller yourself; they are an unknown threat, and more than likely not worth the risk. The police will take care of everything once they know the meeting place / time.

    So;
    ARRANGE THE MEETING YOURSELF.
    THEN CALL THE LOCAL POLICE AND LET THEM DEAL WITH IT.

    Sly way of avoiding the attention of the owner.

    Google a picture of a similar bike, if owner who is looking for it stumbles across it they will think not their bike if someone turns up to buy it they won't care about the differences due to the price.

    If only these people would apply themselves to contributing something meaningful to society.

    Good point. It could also be a ploy to tempt someone round with cash with a view to a mugging.

  • Shoreditch bike thief: I had this 1999 Cannondale Silk Road 1000 stolen from Columbia Rd on Friday night. On Monday it turned up on Gum Tree and though I have proof it's mine the police were unable to help me reclaim it. Last night I arranged to meet the Gum Tree seller who met me on Taplow House estate on the corner of Arnold Circus and Pallissy Street, planning to pose as a buyer and confront him to reclaim my property. As soon as he saw me he got spooked and cycled off.Now he won't return my calls. I'm sure he lives in one of the estates around Arnold Circus and will try and sell the bike there in the next day or two. The ad is now off Gum Tree. If anyone sees it please email me at bigjoemuzz@gmail.com. Would be grateful for any other advice. Thanks!

  • I saw an absolutely beautiful blue art deco Colnago frame with Shamals and a yellow Faggin being wheeled through Regents Park at 5.10 by two young guys who might have looked a bit like off duty couriers into their vintage Italian bikes but no bags/radios.

  • My saddle and seatpost were nicked from my bike outside The Duke of Wellington on Balls Pond Road last night.
    The saddle was a glossy red Turbo and the seatpost was a Colnago pantographed one.
    Don't expect them back, this is more of a warning about parking around there.

  • You're right, parking in DoW is too far away from the pub,in the dark.
    I never leave my bikes there.

    Sorry to hear about your saddle/post.

  • Hi everyone. My downstairs neighbour had his distinctive Google bike stolen from the shared hallway of our house on Lordship Park, N16 at some time between 6pm and 7pm yesterday evening. Probably an opportunist theft, the door may have been left open by people in the other flat who were letting people in/out. It was locked with a basic cable lock (yeah, I know). I've advised him to have a look down Brick Lane but in the meantime, if anyone in the area spots it, please PM me.

    The stolen bike is identical to this one:

  • My downstairs neighbour had his distinctive Google bike stolen

    Maybe they felt lucky?

    Sorry! It's quite a distinctive bike though, will keep an eye out. Are the Google logos easily-removed stickers?

    I think this is the second report we've had about theft from there recently.

  • My bike was stolen today. Unfortunately I hadn't insured it yet so I have only myself to blame. It was registered with bikeregister.com and was security marked/eteched on the bottom of the frame.

    It was stolen from the cycle storage facility at The Arch Climbing Wall near London Bridge.

    Whyte Stirling 2012, size S frame:

    This picture is slightly old, as the bike had Continental Gator Harshell tyres and Zefal hybrid mudguards.

  • was it locked?

  • Yeah it was locked, but only single locked. Normally I use 2 locks but today I did not >_<

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but sadly saying what I should have done and could have done won't bring my bike back. :(

  • 32 mountain bikes stolen from Gravesend cycle shop.

  • Had my blue raleigh fixed gear bike stolen from Broadway market last night. Went to Brick lane at 6am this morning to see if it was there...

    Mine didn't turn up, but I found my friend's bike (stolen at the same time). They were respraying it as I turned up. They didn't put up a fight when we grabbed it back.

    My Raleigh has an olympic rings transfer on the tubing, riser bars with black oury grips a Brick Lane Bikes crank set and Halo aero track rims.

    If anyone sees it, please let me know / try and pinch it back. There'll be a reward.

  • Fucking Hackney kids tried to steal my front spoke tonight! then they realise it was D-lock! MOTHER FUCKERS!

  • I hate Brick Lane Mkt - what scumbags - I saw them spraying bikes also - to mostly black colour. I was so disgusted I accused them of selling stolen bikes etc and shouted at them (it upset me as I was looking for my own bike)
    Mercian, at approx what time did you spot your friends bike.

  • Hussy - It was early on... approximately 8am.

    The guy was spraying it black. We grabbed it and he pleaded innocence, saying that people just give him bikes to spray. He then offered to finish the paint job for us. Idiot.

    The police came, but they couldn't do anything.
