Single speed not fixed, so I need foot retention, but I will change cranks for something with a better bottom bracket. Perhaps with the new crank and pedals Ill get some straps too.

That's bollocks, you should have some control over the rear wheel whatever speed you're at cos if you have to stop quickly you're just going to somersault with that setup. It's pointless.

I have one, and loving it so far, but have very little to compare to, as it is my first non-mountain bike. Admittedly its had a lot changed though, thanks to Buckaroo, the previous owner :)

Been fun to ride so far, and a great introduction to fixed. Am struggling with brakeless riding, as I've got weak legs due to an injury, and probably poor technique too, but the single gear ratio should help, and it stops quick when I do use the brake I just fitted.
Would like to strip the paint back to the raw aluminium though, or paint, hate the paint job!
It may only be a Langster, but it's got me into fixed cheaply, and is light. I want to build a pretty steel framed bike now too, but MAY a bit spoiled by the 3.5lb Langster frame, no?

Don't change crankset because you need a better bb. Just get a better BB when you current one is worn out.

The crank is a SRAM S100, it uses Truativ's proprietary Power Spline design. This bike was just built a two days ago and I used a new bb. Still has a ticking sound to it like the old one, by old I mean 4 months old. With no other manufacturer making a Power Spline bb I can't choose another. Which is why I want a crank with a square taper design so I have a wide variety of bb's to pick.
Something like that ...... more like condition my legs to go down the street to my friends house.

There is nothing wrong with riding with 1 brake, but there is certainly something very wrong when riding freewheel with1 brake. If you really only have 1 brake or insist of putting 1 brake on when riding free, it should really be at the back not the front. If you want to put a front brake on, then you should ride fixed as suggested. You do know the reason why people have front brake only for fixed, do you? Just checking...
Of you might as well do what some twat face I have seen recently - riding a fucking freewheel with no brake at all. It's cool apparently. As cool as it might be, until they can't stop in front of a lorry.
