  • next week - matching tyres.. I couldn't wait so just threw on some spares. Going out to ride now. Looks teh sex in person.

  • Nice wheels. Suit the bike too.

  • I think the red Michelin actually looks good. Normally a bit anti-coloured tyres but may have to make an exception

Yeah - I think visually it's working better with the alu brake track, or something.

  • This is my roadbike, cost me about 80 pounds to build it up. I'm loving it :)

  • Just bought Jogger's Taurus frame, would make a fine hhsb but for the time being I'm building it up with parts from my last bike.
Frame is undrilled, clamp-on en route. Short stem is just for testing and will be swapped out I'm sure(I ride on the hoods mostly so have a shortish stem usually but not this short).

Wheels are campy/ascent, had them years. TA chainset is going on later this evening and I've got some white cotton tape for spring. Had the brooks forever and is comfy as anything.
Should make a tidy little fixed road bike for summer. I know it might look better with a more modern drivetrain and saddle but this is what I've got and it'll do just fine.

  • Forum member number6 just helped me build up this beauty. Not fixed but lovely all the same. It's a carlton mixte from 1950s I think. Still has lots of the original paintwork left. :) Rides like a dream.

  • where did you get your clamp on from?

  • This is my current project just waiting for the groupset...

    Carbon awesomeness double post overload!

    (well jell)

  • Built this up last night.. Birthday ride ;)

It's by Geoff Scott (of Gefsco fame). Built in Columbus Ms with a Dura ace 7400 groupset, 105 hubs on Campagnolo Ypsilon rims. Will get some better shots of it at some point, I think it was one of the first aero tubesets... It also has a nifty bb shell, the seat tube leans really far forward for a relaxed geometry with a short wheelbase.. Rides nice apart from a few glitches with the rear mech.

  • can you photo the aeroness of the frame can't see it from here

  • It's hard to spot, I know. The dt is teardrop shaped, tt is ovalised and non ds chainstay is triangular.. Will get some better pics

  • where did you get your clamp on from?

    SJSC has them.

If you or someone you know is handy, this would be fairly easy to make.
I take no responsibility for failure due to lack of heat treatment or whatever makes it strong enough. Would Carbon Fibre be appropriate? Tester?

  • High compressive stress on the edges suggests metal would be a better (and cheaper) choice. I'd guess at £30 to have your machinist make one as a one-off.

  • Hm, probably cheaper to order then. Definitely cheaper (for UK anyway) to order the SJSC one.

  • Just paid for this...can't wait to try out 753!

    I built that frame :)

    A frame with lineage!

  • A little late but I just wanted to add this to the 26mm bar in the 25.4mm stem clamp debate,

This is 26mm Nitto RB018 that was in a Sakae 25.4mm stem for over a year, the dark area is where the stem clamped the bar and the pinched area you see (I hope it's clear enough) is where the gap in the stem was. As you can hopefully see the bars were squeezed over time and pinched where there was space. They didn't break but still another good reason for the whole correct bar size for the stem and vice versa reply.

  • Taurus now has tape and a chainset.
Will pick up a chain tomorrow and once the clamp-on arrives it'll be done.
Also got a pair of Belleri porteur bars lying around and I think I've found a Belleri stem to go with them hopefully. Not sure if I'd use them but they look nice so thought I'd at least try them out.
Sorry for the busy background in the pics, will take better ones once it's finished.

  • ^Shirley you can do a better job on the tape..? Like it, sucker for purple..

  • That's only the first layer. I like cotton, usually have at least 2 layers on there and wrap a bit round the hoods to cover the clamps and make them a little more comfy and tidy it up before the second layer goes on. Simples.
Gonna go all out, got a 54t TA ring on the way as the one on there looking a bit tired, new cog and EAI axles to rebuild the hubs would be nice as well but no rush.

  • Finished. I want to give it reeen's theft prevention treatment.
