Driving back from Dorset yesterday I came up the Shepards Bush road from Hammersmith. Ahead of my 2 cyclists one behind the other. Anyone who knows me knows I have a very gruff sounding V8 engine which you cannot ever fail to hear.
Just before driving past these cyclists I gave a quick toot on my horn to let them know I was coming up behind (as is the correct use of the horn). As I went passed the cyclist at the rear with no look behind and no indication of any kind swerved into the middle of the road to over take the cyclist in front. Only thanks to epic control of my car was I able to move out narrowly able to avoid a head on with a south bound vehicle. This nodder then had the audacity to have a go at me at the next lights. I pointed out my cervelo in the back and informed the prick that he ought to get in touch with the CTUK to learn to ride in traffic before someone knocks him off.
I know from experience the anger that fests up with the feeling of vulnerability from a narrow avoidance of crash from a large vehicle. But no wonder drivers hate cyclists with so many people using the roads who have absolutely no idea what the effing hell they are doing on the roads.
