Relating to the 'semi or automatic shifting' debate, I can't see that this would work that well in principle. You would have to know when the shift is going to take place or it would result in sloppy gear changes. The combination of shift timing and a brief slowdown of cadence is what helps you achieve this, and I don't see how this could be achieved with anything automatic.Good gear shifting relies too much on the human operating the system.
