    Quick wheel changes with a disc would be a problem. Maybe that could be designed out. A tapered lead in on the calipers or something..

    With my limited knowledge of road racing, ref: TdF could teams have different bikes for different stages. Rim brakes for flatter stages where Aero is important. Discs for the mountains, where riders climb slowly so aero less important. Then rip down hill where ultimate braking power would be required. (assuming you can deal with the heat issue).

    I think the caliper could be quite neat and mostly fit behind the fork. The frontal area of the disc isn't that great. Maybe the biggest aero draw back would be the spoke count as Tester says.
