There's two ways to fit a headset. One with a press, which you can make yourself (threaded billet, some big washers and nuts, and a big turny gubbins. The other is with a block of wood and a mallet.
My advice, hop on the bus to B&Q and buy the bits you need for the former. The latter tends to be a bit hair raising and probably not that good for the frame, your headset or sanity.

I once hammered my star nut onto my full carbon forks using a pedal spanner

Cheers dude. you know what, that's exactly what I've started contemplating in the last few days. cos she really flies and when I reach a certain speed I wish I could go lower. Just waiting for money & the right ones...

Cheers. They're alright, not too narrow (40cm Velosolo) they're not first choice tbh, Financial necessity dictated them, had them lying around. They'll do till I can afford some drops.

Looking good man!
I'm building an Tifosi right now, spending hours on end on ebay looking for parts. Loosing massive amounts of sleep debating with myself wether to go for trick or metal track pedals, yours look nice so I might just go for the former.

it's a lots wider than the Idiot Bar™ we see everyday thought.
Think it's a good width IMHO, comparable to riding on the top of a (road) drop bar.

I reckon you'd get on well with a bullhorn bar, top for cruising, bullhorn for spinning like a mothers.

Cheers man, yeah i had that debate too. Thing is i went trick, cos' really that's what could afford £5 for pedals and had straps lying around. Might go with track pedals eventually once i have more dollah to work with. I like the current setup though.

Yeah man, been having the Drops vs Bulls dilema, Plus bullhorns never fail to make me think "yeeeaaa i am a bull i have horns! outta my way!" The 13yr old inside never dies.
And yeah 40cm is a decent width, narrow enough to filter through traffic. But wide n sensible enough to be stable and climb inclines.

Drop are great, but it'll also cost more to have those brake hood to grab on, especially for city riding where the drop are not quite as useful as you'd expect them to be.
the bullhorn mean you'll be switching hand position a lots more than you think.

If you read p1 youll see he was mistaken.
He was thinking about visp. Which isn't the same.
If you're after something in a similar vein as a visp then check out the Dolan Pre Cursa - they are very good value for money.

Also if its any help this is how I built mine up
What size is that? I just found a 58cm going for 200 quid, but im debating if its the right size for me. I am 6'2" with about 34.5" inseam. My road frame is actually 61cm with quite a long seat post, but I did hear that the track frame should be 2cm smaller as it is intended to be more of an aggressive set up.
Thanks!
Fitting a headset is hard and requires special tools, likewise a bottom bracket (it's actually not that difficult, but you really don't want to fuck it up.) The rest is remarkably easy and doesn't require many special tools.
You could take it to http://www.unioncycleworks.org.uk/ where they have an open day on the first Saturday of each month. it's run by knowthejo http://www.lfgss.com/member5887.html
