Well, thanks a lot for all your help, local Saffas - may weevils infest your biltong and Wimbledon drown beneath the waves.
Anyway, if anyone fancies cycling in SA, I highly recommend it - long, good quality, straight roads, not much traffic outside of the cities, fantastic welcoming people. Carry a few packets of sweets for the township kids who come out to wave at you. Don't ride a fixie with panniers tho, in KZN at least, it's fucking hilly. Looking at a map with contours might have told me that before I left.
