    Seems undervalued, stolen maybe?
I've no idea how tightly marktplaats regulates their sales.

Nope, racing an alley cat on saturday and my other fixed is out of action for the time being.

My aim for this summer is to become accredited, although at Manchester, to do this is a complete ball ache, and quite expensive.... which is why I haven't got round to it.

  • Lovin that bar tape Malaysian, looks just right with what I can see of that frame, good colour match too.

  • DId you tape them this way cause you will be riding on the tops?

  • DId you tape them this way cause you will be riding on the tops?

    oh shit...

  • DId you tape them this way cause you will be riding on the tops?

    oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo burn

  • Woops, I meant to post in here, but clicked the wrong button and made a new thread. This is what I was trying to do:

I've recently arrived in Melbourne (skint!) after my travels; sailing around the Pacific. I've managed to find a job, full time as a mechanic at a really cool bike shop called bikeNOW, in South Melbourne.
I was given an old Raleigh mixte, because the front wheel had folded in half, and it was going to be more hassle than it was worth to sort out for the customer, so he ended up buying a new bike. It's hard to tell from the photo, but everything is very neglected. I love the frame though, so I've spent a little bit of time and money sorting things out, so my girlfriend has a bike to ride when she gets here (tomorrow!)
I haven't taken a photo of the finished article yet (but will tomorrow), but this is how it looked when I got it (that's a new front wheel in there, so I could ride it home):

    This is Lea's bike now.
I cleaned the frame up, and removed some of the old decals, which were half peeled off already.
It has new wheels, new freewheel (going to use the original coaster brake wheel on my beater), new tyres, new handlebars, stripped and cleaned the crankset, new chain, new pedals, new seatpost, new saddle, new grips, New rear brake cable.

Just need to find a basket, and some new mudguards for it now.

  • Niiice. Not a mixte though.

  • You are completely right. Momentary lapse of brain function when I was writing that.

  • I realise my last photo was a bit dark/ indistinct, so I took more. MOAR! MOAR! I'm going to head off and scobelise every thread with pictures of my bike now...

  • Just finished this pub bike for my wife. I bought the frame with the intention of building a race bike for my lads but as they won't fit it for a couple of years yet thought id do something in the meantime.
The frame came from a mate who's dad used it to break the vets national 24h record back in the 80s. 531 with curved seat stays and all internal cabling.
Most of the parts i had but couldn't resist buying the mudguards, saddle and rack. A bit OTT maybe and a possibly a sad end for such a noble frame but my wife loves it and has agreed to extending the bike shed, yippee.

  • not a sad end, more a classy retirement.

  • Agreed!

  • Do you know much about Whitcombs? built one up for a friend a while back and couldn't find much info.

  • DId you tape them this way cause you will be riding on the tops?

As in colour orientation or reverse wrapping?

Didn't want the blue on the drops as I thought it would look more tasteful the way it is.

Reverse wrapped because it looks sick to the power of dope, and the bars are scratched up to fuck.

  • No not really, the chap who had it made was a scouser but i think there was a witcomb in east london, possibly a different one? I seem to remember reading some where that Richard Sachs apprenticed there as well briefly.

  • As in colour orientation or reverse wrapping?

As in all the way up to the stem.

  • Reverse wrapped because it looks sick to the power of dope, and the bars are scratched up to fuck.
