  • DFP there are instructions for instalation on the ubuntu download page.
    File recovery http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17044/move-files-from-a-failing-pc-with-an-ubuntu-live-cd/

  • do look keos have replaceable bearings?

  • it's the old jewellery, gold and silversmithing area. some streets feel really lost in time..

If your in the jewellery quarter make sure to check out the pen museum.

This place sounds weird and i like it! Thanks guys, would never have thought to go to a pen museum! Unfortunately will be with the gf and not with a bike so no riding...

  • even rolling you're asking for trouble. I've had bars snap from a fatigue crack hidden just inside the stem clamp. It was not fun. All those knurled grooves will be a fertile ground for cracks.

So all those Nitto bars are shit? Or do they heat treat after knurling?

  • do look keos have replaceable bearings?

Kind of, you can pull out the complete axle assembly for replacement, but the bodies are usually well worn by the time that's necessary, and the economics of the bicycle industry mean it is barely more expensive to buy complete pedals; rrp on axles is about £35 each, £70 for a pair, against £64/pr for basic Keo2Max pedals.

The axles can't be rebuilt with new bearings

  • I gave my friend an old road wheel that I used a 9 speed Campagnolo cassette on, he bought an 8 speed Record cassette for it but the lockring doesn't fit the hub.

The lockring has an OD of approx 29mm and the freehub and ID of approx 26mm.

Does anyone know if he can buy a new lockring to fix the problem? If so which one?

Apologies if this is really obvious, gears are still a bit alien to me.

  • Can you not use the old lockring?

  • I kept it for my wheels

edit - well at least I think I did, I don't remember having a spare at any point, are Campagnolo Khamsins supplied with a lockring? I'm sure I wouldn't have been stupid enough to throw one away by mistake.

  • In general, Campag put lock rings with wheels, whereas Shimano put them with cassettes.

I think what your friend needs is a 27mm Campag lock ring, e.g.
    http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/Product/19747/campagnolo-oversize-lockring-27x1-12t.asp

Although you need to measure carefully, as there is also such a thing as a 26mm, plus there are 11t and 12t versions with different flange diameters. Token do alloy 27mm ones for under a fiver if Campag pricing is too rich.

  • For Pete's sake, I knew I was going about that the wrong way.

I suspect you'd probably have got a serious answer out of mdcc_tester if you'd asked the question in Bulgarian.

  • Oh, wait ...

  • ^^that shit seems so complicated, how do I even get ubuntu onto a flash drive? Ill try.

    Another question.

I need to learn to drive QUICKLY. Is it realistic for me to expect to learn and pass everything within a month?

I went to Romford driveodrome with my dad for 4 all day weekends and passed first time. This was 17 years ago, so don't know if it's still there.

  • Whatever happened to Platini?

    Busy with Euro 2012?

  • Eurovision more like.

  • Continental Touring Plus Reflex Tyre 700 x 47c

How does it hold when heavy skidding is thrown in to the mix?

  • I have a PC full of viruses. I want to recover a lots of data off it.

If I boot it up with its virus/trojan/adware laden windows OS, and copy over data to a USB hard drive. Will the external drive somehow become 'infected' ?

How about not downloading any more porn?

    Yeah, Ubuntu or Knopix

Campagnolo changed the spline pattern on their hubs as part of the move from 8 to 9 speed so even if he has the right lockring the 8 speed cassette will not fit.

  • when I try and "opt out" of google targetted advertising, it asks me to download and install a plugin for my browser. seems a strange way to go about it. I don't know much about these things - is it still collecting data but the plug in prevents the special adverts thing?

  • Will I need a seat sandwich adaptor to fit a Brooks B18 saddle on a bike with a micro-adjust seatclamp? Is it a double rail saddle is effectively what I'm asking.

Not sure if this is working with me yet but I removed my Google history.
Go to your account settings, down the bottom you have "web history", it asks you to type your password in again, then you click on "remove web history", it also pauses the collecting too.

If they have no data collected they cannot tailor the adverts, which is actually quite annoying. If I go and buy a power tool, for the next week it will show me adverts of power tools, when I've just bought what I need...

thanks. yeah done that, and done the 'opt out' on both gmail and something else it gave options for, but haven't installed the plug-in.

  • mdcc - thanks I'll forward him the link

andyp - I glanced at it the other day and the cassette was on the hub body, I'll double check exactly what he has when I next see it but it didn't look like there was a problem (other than the lockring).

  • If a saddle has oversized carbon rails does that mean I need a different seat post with bigger clamps?
    looking at this one:
    http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=53991

  • Depends on the seat post, but generally yes, you do.

A Thompson style that clamps top and bottom will be fine, a Ritchey style one will require the specific cradle for that saddle.
