If I recall correctly the A-10 has been designed with a low stall speed because the power of that gun is so great it will slow the aircraft down.

Not true. The gun does slow it down slightly, but the typical 1/2-1 second burst is only measureable rather than noticeable. Pretty sure it didn't have any effect on the design.
