Detentions at college...

Pretty pissed off at the moment and i thought i'd share my feelings here, i have no idea why really...

Basically i was just over 20mins late to college because i got a flat and had to walk a couple of miles or so, explained it all to my head of year and he said i'd get an hour detention for being over 20mins late. He told me to go back at lunch time and where he gave me a 3 hour detention on Saturday morning for lying (he phoned my parents who said i'd left at later than i'd told him)

Essentially i was going to be late anyway but a puncture slowed me down more, i only told him i had a puncture, not that i was already late (not really lying, more withholding the truth)

So yeah, i miss the first day of the season at Herne Hill.

Thoughts?

3hr detention on a Saturday morning? Schools have changed since I was there then...

then every morning when you don't get a puncture, you can practise mad skillz on your bike infront of the cool chicks that hang round by the back gates smoking

I had the same problem last week and now they've put me on a extra revision course at Imperial college on every other saturday so I'll be missing out at Herne Hill as well... Sadtimes.

Any college ive been to, absolutely no staff would be bothered enough to give anyone a detention. Waste of time for everyone. If you want to miss days, be late etc. Thats your problem, not theirs.

Maybe this teacher is eyeing you up for a rogering.

this is the college where they've introduced a one way system for walking round the corridors to "ease congestion", banned carrying bags between lessons for "health and safety reasons" and where they lock the library if there's a cover lesson in there, leaving about 30 computers unused and the printer inaccessible...

Guy above at a college was referring to a university. Colleges range, 6th forms are just schools by another name and maybe a lax dress code, others tend to be much more like university in their lack of caring whether you attend or not.

If its any consolation, I got multiple detentions in school for not having white socks for PE 3 times in a term. I never understood the need for white socks for sport other than the discipline of making sure you have white socks for sport. And last time I heard they would randomly have police bring with drug dogs to wander around classes, which is an unpleasant thought.
