  • I was tempted to try the one as old as me. I may do that next time.

  • I'm going to have to try to work my way through at least some of those. I'm not that familiar with Glenfarclas.

Chris, which was the one that you started with?

  • The 30 year old Benromach

    So tasty.

  • dropping Dalwhinnie 15 like it's hot

  • The 30 year old Benromach

    So tasty.

you should both pick up the organic one, it's really great for the price

  • Laphroaig is what got me in to nice whiskey..

you've tougher tastebuds than me. can't be dealing with all that islay stuff. tastes like an ashtray washed out with listerine to me. wrrrrrrrrr.

got a bottle of macallan and glenfiddich 15 yo on the go at the moment. waiting for dalwhinnie to appear in tesco's offer again and i'll be all over that.

  • dropping Dalwhinnie 15 like it's hot

    my man.

  • Got bought The Balvenie Signature 12yo for my birthday and it is the only whiskey my wife has ever tried and enjoyed straight up. Remarkably smooth.

  • Since Christmas:
    Clynelish 14 yr old.
    Benromach 10 Yr old.
    Bowman 12 yr old.

That would be Laphroaig. Is it odd that I believe that description to be valid enough while still liking the malt? Although I'm not as impressed by it as I used to be - see it more as a gimmick, without that much complexity.

You can often taste odd or otherwise unpleasant things in whisky and not have it spoil the taste at all. For me, Highland Park is always recognisable by the hint of white spirits. Shame that one is not as good as it used to be (older Highland Park bottlings are probably my favourite whisky).

  • I just got me a tax refund, who's going to take me to the soho whisky club so I can join then?

  • As soon as I get my stuff in the post then we'll go.

  • Excellent.

  • I wanna come too!!

  • No problem.

  • this

  • ^ More details plz

  • It looks as if the picture was taken in Milroys. Does that help?

  • Yes, I'm up for that, Whisky tasting is ace... really rather dangerous though

    Afternoon session of course

  • I've got a whiskey tasting this weekend at the Liberty Lounge thanks to a groupon type deal. I must remember to take notes otherwise I'll just end up pissed and still have to take a leap into the dark when buying a new bottle.

  • Anybody fancy a visit to SMWS up by Farringdon, next week?

  • I probably would. It's been ages. What day?

  • I can do Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
