I'll be honest. I've yet to do a dubstep night so I shouldn't judge to harshly. I had a DJ friend a few years back who told me I should get into just as it was starting to break through, but frankly he was a bit of a cock and I didn't listen to him. Since then I've just not known people into that stuff and haven't bothered hunting it down. I'll have to have a chat with you some time on a listening list to try.
My bass requirements were serviced more by Reggie/Digi Dub variations, listening at home rather than clubs in a more 'mellow' frame of mind. Kef Kit 104s with B139 racetrack bass drivers were enough in a domestic environment, at least my parents neighbours thought so.. but then I had friends who lived not far from where you are now who ran 1/4 wave Kef transmission lines and a rather cheeky class a amp with an output stage that might well have come from your old labs who made a persuasive argument that more was better.
