Couldn't she have gotten away with that by just calling it "appropriated"?
I'm doing a BA in Photography and for the final honours project there's probably about 25% of the class aren't taking any photos, they are using images from archives, movie stills etc.
I'm not in that 25% but the idea of appropriation or at least of re-photography - making a photograph of a photograph rather than a screen print etc - kind of appeals to me.
